I don't see that anything is "clearly obvious" - not to you or anybody else. It was a commencement speech to Westpoint graduates. He spoke of staying vigilant and gave historical examples of when not doing so had huge consequences.

I think we all have learned in the last few years, or at least I think we should have learned, that it is necessary for us as a nation to be vigilant not only outwardly, but inwardly as well.

The sucker punch is, by definition, the one you never expect and never see coming. At least not until it is too late to get out of the way.
