Just found this in the Archives.org Collection:

Time is roughly 11:53AM:

"I had a conversation some years ago with an Air Force General about the possibility of something rather like this event..."
"...I said surely you've thaught about things like this? He said 'Well, to the best of my knowledge nobody in my office has looked at this but I promise you Monday morning they will be.'".

But that's not possible, because "nobody could have imagined":

DR. RICE: Steve, I don't think anybody could have predicted that these people would take an airplane and slam it into the World Trade Center, take another one and slam it into the Pentagon; that they would try to use an airplane as a missile, a hijacked airplane as a missile.

I believe James Wood was on a flight with one of the terrorists when they were preparing for 9-11, and he reported it to the FBi and nothing happened.

Last August, Mr. Woods found himself on a plane going from Boston to Los Angeles. Surrounding him in first class were four men who appeared to be of Middle Eastern origin. Later, Mr. Woods told the FBI it was very suspicious. And they interviewed him after 9/11.

So he says anyways.

...Jeez didn't Tom Clancy, himself use an airplane as a weapon in one of his novels... Debt of Honor (1994)

...A disgruntled japanese industrialist "lands" a 747 on the Capitol
in Washington D.C.,destroying the President , the Congress, and the Supreme Court...

Why is it that actual terrorist attacks often seem like something out of a
screenwriters imagination...?

Think.. The Long kiss Goodnight"

The Lone Gunmen (pilot episode)

Actually, the airliner pilot is the brother of an admiral and the father of a pilot who were both killed in the conflict. Sorry. But I'm a huge Tom CLancy fan.

the plan...

possibly because being in a "Screenwriter's" presentation
is an acceptable medium or context

otherwise such a 'wild' pronouncement would be seen as dribble from a crack-pot.
...or rantings of a fame seeking pseudo-psychic...
or just more fluff from a dooms-day futurist....

etc etc etc

i know that many individuals had an idea of that 9-11 general theme,
and the dramatic switch from 'hijackers with a cause'
to the diabolical 'zealots commandeering aircraft as missiles'
[& how for 32 years, the world- except for israel - was 'asleep-at-the-wheel')

No, it wasn't planned by anyone but the pilot. It was a last minute Presidential address in front of Congress to announce Jack Ryan as VP. Sato (the pilot in question) heard about it, and wanted revenge. He told them the plane was broken and he was going to fly it to their maintenance facility, pretended to be a KLM flight with an emergency trying to land at Andrews, and slammed into the building. He came up with it all on his own and even murdered his copilot before takeoff.

(Sorry, just read Executive Orders again a couple weeks ago.

...O.K.. So.. A Japanese industrialist targets the USA

in Debt of Honor....

and then... a Japanese pilot crashes the plane... (at the end)...

And this is where Executive Orders...begins...

And Tom Clancy..wrote it all...

Yah, he's the one that started the war that led to the deaths that pushed Sato over the edge and caused him to crash into the Capital.

Sorry to nitpick, I can't help myself sometimes.

...And now, back to our regularly scheduled thread...

This article provides an interesting take on an actual quote about9/11 by Tom Clancy himself...

Good link

I wasn't able to find anything specific in my initial googles.

Now we just need to figure out who that Air Force general was that he warned, and when...
