G'day all,

Just came across the following article, which if true opens a whole can of worms -

www.rense.com...

Quote - "A recent strike by nuclear-armed Israeli Air Force fighter-bombers bound for targets in Iran was turned back after being intercepted by U.S. fighters over Iraq, this reporter has learned.

Two sources have independently confirmed the encounter, which took place on January 7, 2007. Though the first informant offered few details beyond an initial tip, a second source long-known by this reporter to have well-placed U.S. and "non-U.S." military and government contacts provided specific information regarding the raid, which was aimed at the radical religious ayatollahs holding ultimate power in Iran. "

Quote - "This source added that visiting IAF warplanes are routinely "topped off" by American aerial refueling tankers, but only on condition that the Israeli jets fly a "racetrack" holding pattern-and do not continue "downtown" toward Iran.

The designated turn back point is the "160 station"-a clearly charted tapline road located 160 kilometers from Baghdad. Any aircraft proceeding beyond this point must declare its intentions. Otherwise, a USAF F-15 will take position off its wingtip. After waggling its own wings to attract attention, if the interloper fails to turn back, the American Eagle "drops behind and gets tone" by locking a Sidewinder anti-aircraft missile onto the offending plane.

According to this very reliable source, on two previous occasions Israeli fighter-bombers armed with nuclear bombs have headed "downtown" before being turned back over Iraq.

The January 7th mission, which trespassed beyond 160 station before being recalled by Israeli authorities, comprised three IAF F-16s. Each carried conventional munitions-as well as a single 20-kiloton nuclear bomb.

The atomic detonation that razed the city of Hiroshima and killed 140,000 people outright was a 13-kiloton blast. [Agence France- Presse Aug 6/05] "

Has anybody else heard of this occurance as it hasnt made the media anywhere else, and Im sure if it did, there would be uproar everywhere, pareticularly the Arab world as it shows a definite willingness to attack Iran.

Iran could look at this as a premeditated attack and launch one of their own before any further action by Israel.

Question is, why did the US turn the planes round on several occasions? Was it that the US hasnt got all its pices of the chess match in position yet?

Or does Israel know something they arent telling the US, that maybe Iran already has a nuclear missile or was given one by the Russians?

What are your thought and opinions on thsi matter? It is distressing to say the least.

Well I read this and seems credible and I agree with you about the chess pieces not ready yet on the U.S. Side. Meaning that they have to be planning some sort of attack on the Iranians, but they need a cause. I believe there was a thread about staging an attack (by U.S. or Israeli's) on the U.S. or Israel which will of course be blamed on the Iranians to justify retaliation by them...

U.S. (Bush admin) and Israel I believe want war...why who the hell knows..

interesting story, it will be interesting to here if it is confirmed by any additional sources. I would assume it says nothing at all about Iran's own nuclear capabalities. All it tells is that Israel is an evil state willing to drop a nuke on a neighbouring country. It seems clear USA wants to target Iran also, but dropping a nuke would definitely being going too far, Bush's admin is already unpopular, dropping a nuke on Iran might start a revolution at home to have him removed, and it certainly wouldn't get support from Britain in this case. Blair is on even thinner ice at home than Bush.
