The world may go "crazy 88" (Q. Tarantino, Kill Bill 1) when this gets out. There is an inversion on our eight chromosome, meaning that a part of is oriented one way in part of the population and the other way in the other part. Now, it might be possible to engineer a virus that affects only one part of the population. So defacto, that part of the population that attacks the other first wins.

Can you help us out with a link to something that has a little more information?

Thank you for your advice.

If you are interested you can try google:

a) "chrosome 8" + inversion
b) haplotype + virus + susceptibility.

You probably could. But man, would it be hard. Studies on DNA coding are still in their infancy, and we are still trying to understand it all. And what would be the point? "HAHAHA, now we INVERTED 8TH CROMOSOME PEOPLE will be the dominant race on Earth! No more opression of the inverteds!!!"

Not at all. The age of the genome is over, and we are currently in the age of the proteome.. We know a lot about DNA.. I know, because I study it at university.

And no, you cant make a virus target a large portion of DNA, just because it has been inversed.

In fact I think it may well be possible to engineer a virus to attack the inverteds only, or the non-inverteds, for that matter.

For instance, here is a research paper that proves that the inverteds are more prone to panic disorder. Which immediately might lead to the developement of a panic attack virus against the inverteds:

This sounds a lot like part of the plot to the film Ultraviolet to me...
