This is a prime example of how information is often times "filtered" to suit what government agencies want us to know instead of allowing the truth to be told. I don't think it's quite the same thing.

People and governments have many different reasons for keeping secrets. For governments, it's often just a policy, something they always do because you can never tell what might be a risk to national security. It's easy to get tempted into thinking that because someone is secretive there must be some secret they want to hide. But sometimes there just isn't anything there at all. And they can even show you all they know, and you won't believe them. So you're back to square one.
