www.foxnews.com...

Israeli residents are signing petitions pressuring the government to allow them to take up personal arms as Israel prepares for a ground invasion of Gaza, the Times of Israel reported.

Firearm licensing in Israel is a point of contention in the country and has been regarded as excessively stringent for civilians, but activists say the events that transpired in the last week and the traumatic images of Hamas terrorists brutally murdering Israeli civilians in their homes, should be cause to immediately loosen restrictions.

Totally understand the need. And it's a real shame it had to take something of this magnitude to allow the clarity needed to see why allowing those who are willing to accept the responsibility of owning firearms is a good idea.

Those who would grab them in a hurry, have a chance of hurting themselves, due to not being trained/comfortable with a firearm. So that aspect bothers me. But the question, why does anyone need an ar-15, has been answered quite loudly.

And they all did service and are military trained, man or woman. Mandatory.

They're not like our yahoos with no service but they all think they're Rambo.

All Israelis are mandated to do Two years of Military service . So most Israelis will take very naturally to a Firearm and indeed if all Israeli households had at least one firearm none of this would be happening .

Our policy regarding foreign entanglements is to first provide access to firearms for civilians and protect borders.

Yet not at home, in fact, the policy is a complete reversal of those.

Why is that....?

Israelis are already trained on the handling of arms, actually with hamas animals killing first and never asking questions, it should be mandatory for every family to have an automated weapon for necessary protection.

Where has Fox been? This story is several days old (5 days) , and it's the other way around...

Israel is easing its gun laws with the goal of arming "as many citizens as possible," according to Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, as former U.S. Ambassador Jeffrey Gunter is urging Israelis to take up guns in self-defense after the horrific Hamas terror attacks.

Nice to see any government these days helping to arm it's population to protect themselves. This needs to happen everywhere.

It's sad here in the USA our current and crooked administration is trying to take guns away from the law abiding, while encouraging all kinds of criminal riff-raff to come on in through the open southern border.

That says a lot.

Because Americans might point those guns in the "wrong" direction.

Petitioning the government to allow you to protect yourself....

It's amazing to me that there are people who actually think this is a necessary step.

Suckers.

In safe rooms with no locks on the doors and no weapons to defend yourself and your families seems a fool’s gambit to me.

Day late and a shekel shy.

This is a great example of why a population must be allowed to own firearms in peace times.

It keeps the peace.

The outcome of the Hamas invasion may have been very different if Israelis had been allowed to possess and carry BEFORE it escalated to this level.
