Old Testament: “You shall fear the Lord your God and serve Him, and shall take oaths in His name.” – Deuteronomy 6:13
But Christ says that to swear by anything is “from the evil one”

Christ “But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.” – Matthew 5:37

Old Testament: “Show no pity: life shall be for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.” – Deuteronomy 19:21

Christ “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth. 'But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also.” – Matthew 5:38–39

“But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them that despitefully use you; that ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven.” – Matthew 5:43-48

The Old Testament Scriptures, it was said that God commanded His people to kill innocent women and children and even warned them not to hold back or to show any compassion on the infants or the toddlers.
“[God Almighty says] Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy everything that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.'” – 1 Sam. 15:2-3
“But in the cities of these peoples that the Lord your God is giving you for an inheritance, you shall save alive nothing that breathes, but you shall devote them to complete destruction…” – Deut. 20:16-18

Old Testament: ‘If a man commits adultery with another man’s wife—with the wife of his neighbour—both the adulterer and the adulteress are to be put to death.” – Leviticus 20:10

Christ “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.” And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground….”Neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more.'” – John 8:3-11

Old Testament: “But the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your ox, your donkey or any of your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns, so that your male and female servants may rest, as you do.” – Deuteronomy 5:14

Christ “Then Jesus said to him, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.” At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked. The day on which this took place was a Sabbath” – John 5:8–9
Jesus goes one step further and He commands this man to break the Sabbath, too.
In Jeremiah 17:21–22 it says that no one should carry any burden on the Sabbath:
The Old Testament: “This is what the Lord says: Be careful not to carry a load on the Sabbath day or bring it through the gates of Jerusalem. Do not bring a load out of your houses or do any work on the Sabbath, but keep the Sabbath day holy, as I commanded your ancestors.” – Jeremiah 17:21-22
Truthfully, the Jewish leaders of Jesus’ day understood that this was in direct defiance of the specific OT command.
“…and so the Jewish leaders said to the man who had been healed, “It is the Sabbath, the law forbids you to carry your mat.” – John 5:10

Christ declares that “God sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous” (Matt. 5:45) this is in direct contradiction to what Moses said in Deuteronomy 28 where he claims:
“If you obey the Lord your God and faithfully keep all His commands…then He will send rain in season from his rich storehouse in the sky and bless all your work…But if you disobey the Lord your God and do not faithfully keep all his commands and laws that I am giving you today…No rain will fall, and your ground will become as hard as iron. Instead of rain, the Lord will send down dust storms and sandstorms until you are destroyed.” (Deut. 28:1-24)

Christ is the “Word of God” made flesh.
Christ as the Living Word of God has the authority to correct the written Word as-needed.
The Old Testament Scriptures are modified by Christ because He is the reality they were always pointing to
Christ– His life, His teaching, His example – are the standard which everyone, and everything including the Bible must measure up to and align with not the other way around
This also means that the Old Testament Scriptures, were written by men!

Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life.
Christ is the exact representation of the Father.
No one has ever seen God at any time except for Christ.

Can you imagine Christ turning to you and commanding you to go next door and kill every man, woman, child, and even the pets of your neighbours? Does that sound like something Christ would say? Does that sound like something that the “Abba” revealed by Christ would command His children to do? Of course not.
How can we know this? Because we know that the God revealed to us by Christ would not command this sort of violence against women or children, nor would He condemn someone for showing mercy and compassion on the weak and the helpless.
Christ has shown us the Father. He is like the Father and the Father is like Christ.
The Father that Christ reveals to us does not command us to kill our enemies or their infants. Instead, He commands us to love our enemies, to bless them, to do good to them, and to pray for them.
He even tells us that when we do those things, we are also doing exactly what the Father does!
We have not yet fully embraced the idea that Christ was the only one who has ever seen God.
We have not yet fully accepted the idea that Christ reveals the Father to us better than anyone else does.
We have not yet completely believed Christ when He tells us that God loves and even blesses His enemies and that’s why we should do it, too.

It all ended and began with Christ so rejoice if this world hates you, and if it tries to love you...reject it, the truth is simple to a child of the The Father, so open your eyes and wake up!!

God loves us, great and valid position, yet, the onus is on us to love and be kind and generous to others as He is.
For as much as God loves us, He won’t just accept us for going through the motions.
There is more to faith than believing that He loves us

“Show me your faith and I will show you my works”, James the brother of Jesus

Great to teach Gods love but, we must also teach Gods expectations from us, His followers. for those not His followers, no expectations at all.

Not too long ago you needed coding knowledge to be able to build a website, now there's an upgraded easier interface where pretty much anyone can do it without expertise in the code.

So too with Christ, the Old Testament and its abundance of laws were glorified and simplified in Christ, who embodied the law. He fulfilled the scriptures in so many ways that it is statistically impossible for him to not be the sacrificial lamb for humankind and the Messiah.

Christ has made the good and perfect law accessible to everyone. The curtain to the temple was torn open so that all may have access to the holy of holies, not just the religious elites.

I'm not fearing anything, least of which anything that claims to be benevolent.
No thanks.

So, if God is benevolent, should he seek justice?

According to The Bible

2nd Tomothy 2;15
"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth
not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth".

So the truth can only come to us by rightly dividng the word of truth.

This is a key to reading the scriptures. How?
By rightly dividing the word of truth. How?
Mainly who is God speaking to and when.
And WHEN is divided by four different time
lines.

Old testament
New testament- Church age
Tribulation
Millenium- One thousand year reign of Christ

What age/time line are we in?
The church age

So what are we supposed to be learning from this verse?

Old Testament: “You shall fear the Lord your God and serve Him,
and shall take oaths in His name.” – Deuteronomy 6:13

Simple history of what God once commanded.
It isn't ment for us in the chuch age.

To read the Bible we must know the Bible.
or
We have to know how to read the Bible.

Or you can read it a hundred times and end up with wrong
doctrine everytime.

So what's the good news here. Who is the good news meant for?
The people who have lived and still live in the church age us.
We have received the good news and the good news is Jesus
Christ.
Those who live in this age God has made salvation as easy as
stepping on a rake. And still people reject him. I can only have
pity for what this world has done to blind so many. It's a trajedy
for all the ages.

Islam does an excellent job of instilling hate in the hearts of it's believers.

This also means that the Old Testament Scriptures, were written by men!

Your lack of understanding does not make it so.

What/Who you consider "evil" is God protecting the Israelites as a people and civilization. If preserving them as a people meant placing strict laws upon them and destroying their enemies so they can survive and thrive in order to fulfill scripture, who are you to judge? Don't forget, Jesus is the one who holds all authority in heaven and on earth and will be the final judge. Read the book of Revelation on the tribulation. When judgement time comes, Jesus will be returning with the "wrath of God", not a turned cheek.

In depth research will show you how Jesus is God in both the Old and New Testaments. While you admit that no one besides Jesus has seen God the Father, you forget that Abraham did indeed see the "LORD" in the physical, which is who we know as Jesus today. Jesus was and has ALWAYS been the physical manifestation of God the Father.

Genesis 18:1-15

18 Then the LORD appeared to him by the terebinth trees of Mamre, as he was sitting in the tent door in the heat of the day. 2 So he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, three men were standing by him; and when he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them, and bowed himself to the ground, 3 and said, “My Lord, if I have now found favor in Your sight, do not pass on by Your servant. 4 Please let a little water be brought, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree. 5 And I will bring a morsel of bread, that you may refresh your hearts. After that you may pass by, inasmuch as you have come to your servant.”

Christ is not The Father He's a representation of Who The Father is, to know Christ is to know The Father.

You're still exhibiting a lack of understanding.

1 John 5:7

7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

John 14:9

9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath SEEN ME hath SEEN THE Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?

Jesus is the physical manifestation of the Father.

Who do you think Abraham saw back in Genesis 18?

You totally failed at trying to convince anyone that the Old Testament was written by men, has an evil God, and isn't related to Jesus. So, I get it now, you created this thread just to amuse yourself. Bye.
