The David Cronenberg movie entitled Scanners was filmed in synchronization with the album entitled Highway To Hell by AC/DC. This is the only AC/DC album to be confirmed, until I can try Back In Black and all other AC/DC albums recorded prior to 1980. The movie might well have been retitled Astral Vampires, Necromancers, or Voodoo Sex Manual, as the synchronization makes clear for those who know the primordial language.

To get the synchronization to work, the music at the beginning of the film must start simultaneously with the music at the beginning of the album. It becomes quite apparent that the music and movie go together if the synchronization is done correctly.

Thats pretty sweet Scorpio Shaping.
Do you have to kill the movie's audio completely or will the sync allow the show?
Every time Ive done the classic wizard of oz I always miss the restart after they find the tin man.

Firstly, you should perhaps go back and do some reseach on AC/DC.

Secondly, Back In Black was not recorded before 1980- it was filmed IN 1980, after Bon Scott died. (RIP).

If you have any AC/DC related questions, you might as well ask here, I'm an AC/DC fanboy.

I forget what floyd song syncs up with the wizard of oz, but it is true. You start the music when the lion roars right before the movie starts. Its synced up for the whole albumn I believe. Funny how typing this is jarring my memory. Its pretty cool, Pink Floyd obviously put some effort in making that albumn along side the movie.

Anyone who hasn't done it should, its a fun experience.

sorry more memory being jarred. Its the 2nd lion roar that you start the albumn with.

I think I'll show my daughter this tonight. I haven't done it in probably 12 years.

Read the link, it explains it all...

To cause the album to match the film, you must start the CD of Dark Side of the Moon at exactly the right moment while The Wizard of Oz plays on your VCR.

The first start point for the Oz-DarkSide synch is the third lion roar, and another is the third knock Dorothy makes on the Tin Man's chest. Just put the CD on repeat play and it works fine through the whole movie.

Oh man, i saw a Wizard of Oz/The Wall bit once. It was cool.

Somone had gotten the idea to host it on a university news channel. A friend of mine taped it, aparently its hard to get the starting time right, supposedly thats why a lot of people 'try it but it doesn't work'. It was super funny too, because the kid that intros it (and this is on the university cable channel) comes on for an intro, explains the whoel thing and what not. He's sitting in his dorm on a chair infront of a table. The top of one or two bongs make it surreptious like into the shot.

Gosh, I wonder what he does while watching that movie!?

Its cool tho, when 'stuff' happens on the album, its 'synched' with the movie. There a loud noise when people make entrances, the songs has 'meaning' wrt whats going on on screen.

Hell, even if pink floyd never intended it, its still neat to try once.

You say it works like that with Scanners and ACDC? Awesome.

You should make a mpg with the album as the audio. That'd be nuts.

Scanners was also filmed in synchronization with Devo albums.

The two I have tried so far include:

Freedom Of Choice
Duty Now For The Future
