Morning ATS Colleagues.

Couldn't sleep last night and did a dig for some classics to watch.

Started watching Questor and realised I had never watched it to the end.

Any other recommendations for similar androids/computers run amok type films?

A fan of Demon Seed, Colossus the Forbin Project etc.

I also am amused by Computer fantasy movies.

I thought " the Forbin Project" was really an interesting and believable movie to a young teenager. But before that I was watching Captain Kirk outwit the super computer "M5" (an advanced multitronic computer system and prototype created by Doctor Richard Daystrom during the mid-23rd century) who boldly said.. ""This unit must survive.""

Later in the 80's it was Matthew Brodrick trying to outwit the big Computer in the movie Wargames.

In 2008 there was a movie called Eagle Eye that was a pretty good flick. ""The real eagle eye in this film is the Department of Defense's top-secret intelligence-gathering supercomputer. That's A.I., Artificial Intelligence, making decisions for humans. The super computer concluded that "to prevent more bloodshed, the executive branch must be removed.""

The movie Brazil had some real weirdness to it and until the end was unable to really put 2 and 2 together.

Anyway.. those are a few I remember
Johnny

I'm gonna have to look these up! They look like the types of movies I like. I haven't seen many though, I just may not have heard of them. I really like the older dystopian movies or shows.

The old VHS I had didn't have the ending. I always did think it was a bit cack.

Happy now though

"I Am Mother" was really good, imo.

"Ex Machina" was decent:

Huh, never heard of the Questor Tapes. Sounds interesting and have it cued up for later.

Dunno if it fits your genre, but my first thought was Westworld (1973) and The Terminal Man (1974).

Westworld is a classic, probably the first of the genre I ever saw.

Terminal Man I need to see. That was in a computer magazine back in the day but have yet to see the film.

"The Running Man" not half bad nether, more dystopian America than AI takes over but a classic nonetheless.

If you like fantasy books I recommend 'Magic Kingdom For Sale, Sold!'

Never heard of that. More on topic, 'Von Neuman's War' is about a robot self replicating invasion... Pretty good.
