No. You can live without food for quite a while, but 6 months without water ? No way in Hell.

Isn't it generally 3 minutes w/o oxygen, 3 days w/o water and 3 mos w/o food...before death

Here's the survival rule of 3 as I remember it.

3 hours without shelter in (extreme conditions).
3 days without water.
3 weeks without food.

Pretty sure 3 minutes w/o Air is one of the more important ones.

I have a spiritual understanding that might shed the light on these things.

Yes it is entirely possible to sustain without food or water. But it comes at a cost.
It is one of the final forms of letting go, becoming free, realizing who "you" are.
In this form you would completely silence the mind and free the body and merge with the source.
You would have to let go of all decisions/ego/self that you would make to the decisions of the universe(system) to balance the equation. Thus you would let your body do what it needs to do to survive, without interference of the mind.
Understanding that "you" are not the body nor are "you" the mind would make you realize this freedom.
The body in this state could either be living i.e. waking up, doing chores, eating, sleeping.(A set routine without change)
Or the body would be in the living state roaming the wilderness in complete isolation.
Or the body could be left in a meditative state... in Buddha pose.

about your question:
" without drinking water for six months." is that possible?

Yes.

It happened before with other monk.
previously, that other monk went down daily to a cave to gather water from a well pit, in a bucket, for the others, but he didnt drink it.

when scientist wondered why?
it results that his skin pores absorbed the humidity from the environment, like a plant.

but that is an extreme case, in an area with water and humidity and evolved skin.

maybe the monk you are referring tooks another fluid:milk (common in ascets in Nepal, that dont eat or drink another thing more than milk per years),- I have seen this in Nepal. they only drink milk (milk pure from cows contains all nutrients, not processed like in western) and they do not eat other food.

others took oranges, etc, fruits that have some water inside.

so, if they dont drink water directly, they are gathering water via other food or beverage like pure milk, or via their skin pores.

so we could say, we need water, we just don't need to drink it.

Vitamins in tree bark..which means more vitamins in forested areas as well.

A lot of water we drink is for flushing out toxins / processing food we eat. So if one eats less...
