Two nuns cycle down a roman road, says one to the other:

"I never came this way!"

To which the other says

"it's the cobble stones"

Y'all have no idea how terrifying this is to me. As a small child I had an unreasonable fear of being attacked by a wild boar. Never seen one in person, never spent any time in an area with them... But I couldn't peek at the woods without flinching, wondering if one would materialize and get me.

Thanks, I can't stop watching the kind of thing (wild boar invasions) that seems oh, just about "normal" and expected in these times we're in... a reply to: Wide-Eyes

maybe when you were little you watched the movie 'Old Yeller'.

I did not see that.
I think it was the wild dog things in Willow- which were canine-ish, but in my young mind they were wild boars.
And my sister thought it very fun to terrorize me, saying “the wild boars are gonna get you” any time we were near the trees

When I was very young, my Mum took me to Asterix World near Paris. It was run down and probably closed soon after but I loved it at the time. I kept my winged hat for years.

I had four favourite things to read when I was an infant: Enid Blyton books, Roald Dahl books, Asterix and Tintin.

Hergé's Adventures of Tintin was always a masterpiece for me.

Loved those same books, spent hours in the library reading them when i was a kid.

Think you can pick up the complete collection of Hergé's Adventures of Tintin and Asterix & Obelix as PDF/.mobi.

I know its not the same, but i read them to my own kids off the tablet.

When i was a young'ling Rupert Bear was my favourite.

I hadn't thought to look up the pdf's, thanks for the tip. 👍

I used to love Rupert too but my memories of it are less vivid.

You're welcome. I was surprised by how many videos there are of hogs invading towns. It seems more commonplace than one might think.

Honestly, wild boar are my biggest argument for semi-auto center fire
.30 cal rifles…it’s a whole other story if they decide to go after you!

True that. I regret every day selling the Garand, but the ammo
picture became stark enough to pick old school v 5.56 NATO.

Encountered a family of wild boar several miles in the woods while hiking a few times. One time they had piglets with them. HUGE boar with tusks. Saw me and sized me up. My first reaction was to look for the nearest tree to climb should it charge. Next time i went to that state park, had my pistol and kbar.
