www.komoot.com...

I'll be touring Japan again, but this time on the Pacific Coast. The app is new to me, so I don't know how it actually all works for the free part.
But if you are a member, let me know and maybe you can follow me, not sure yet though.

You surely know that if an app is free your data is payment...
if you have any secret spots in nature don't bring your mobile there or the app might log the route, and publish it. It would be quite a shame if next time you seek your little secret eden, the hordes have arrived already.

yes, the little gems are really off the trail and mainstream paths. Which is why I like solo camping and cycling here. But I just uploaded this app so I''ll see where it takes me. It does seem to log into I cycle though, but currently I have it only at a private setting only.

I guess you too are a cyclist, but are you in Japan also?

Nope, not in Japan, but we have a similar suicide rate.
More of the hiker type of guy.

That app also is good for hiking.
I'd go hiking again, but to do solo hiking in the mountains here now its a bit too scary for me. Had 2 hiking friends, but old age caught up with them and heck I'm nearing 70 . Got to keep pushing the limits every day here on Earth.

I've never been to that area, thanks for pointing it out to me.

I'm with some of the others here. We use it for hiking.

On a bike, I prefer paper maps. Maybe it's because I'm a bit long in the tooth...
