...and we can get the yards on the Clyde buzzing again

The yards on the Clyde are busy with Royal Navy orders, contrary to what the Scottish separatists want people to believe.

All UK warships have been made in the UK in recent times. The bone of contention has been auxiliary ships which have been pushed to foreign shipyards. The most recent proposals for the replacement for the Fleet Solid Support ships which was due (we are told) to EU rules could not be indigenously sourced without international competition. Other countries in Europe - like France - get away with it because they classify ships differently.

Leaving the EU will remove these excuses and rules, including things like the OJEC which compel public contracts over a certain value to be procured across the EU adding time and cost. Again, other countries bend the rules. The UK was fastidious in following EU rules, so at least had the moral high ground for all the good that did.

The EU is a racket.

Too right FB they should be given work. The Scots can have a bit, the Geordies can have a bit, maybe the Ulster can also have a bit

Very interesting info Paraphi, you must have some fair knowledge of the fleet
The Telegraph mentioned that classifying ships differently sounds just about right for the French. The Aussies are also getting ships built at leats that's what it seemed to state, not sure if it's kit forms to be finally assembled down south or made in UK, with us leaving the EU maybe the old colonial / Commonwealth trading can be built back up again
