Maybe if they left their political agenda out they could teach them eh?

Crazy concept I know.

Would you say the same if it agreed with yours?

The complaint on this thread is teaching Leftist ideals.

Not politics specifically.

Much better to show the true blemishes and scars of the USA rather than the ridiculous fairy tale history we got taught in public school in the 70s.

That said, my favorite teachers throughout any of my schooling were total hard-asses, and I know that with all the friends I have as teachers that it's pretty well impossible to be a hard-ass teacher now. But these teachers are all totally underpaid and overworked... teaching is a thankless crusher of a profession these days with students that show little respect and parents who side with their bratty children before listening to a teacher. The generation that complains about kids getting participation awards are the ones who created them.

But don't worry, there's still this...

Im sorry but theres a reasom why our educational institutions collectively lean LEFT, and it has nothing to do with indoctrination.

Its IQ, critical thinking skills, facts, evidence, scientific method, and a value system that treats humans equally, literally.

Why do people with more education (as an aggregate) vote left? Its because the Democratic platform isnt based on Tradition, and it is malleable, and inclusive.

It's the same with evolutionary theory. We are taught a narrative from a young age that we are meaningless descendants of mutant apes. I can't stress enough how remarkably damaging this is to a child's existential plight.

How can teaching evidence based science be damaging to a child's health? Science only adds to the beauty of the universe, it makes the 'miracle' of life even more profound, fascinating and adds to the beauty of the Universe and life on Earth, it doesn't take anything away. I was taught it in a UK Roman Catholic School with Church 10m away from the school, never come across a single person who found it an existential crisis.

Failing to equip kids with science skills or refusing to teach science as it may hurt religious fundamentalists feelings is far more damaging to a child's quality of life IMO - nowhere in evolutionary theory does it state we're meaningless descendents of apes.

If people choose not to believe in evolution that's up to them and they're free to do so but it's no reason to deny children an evidence based education and equiping them with the essential skills for life.

As for OP. Sounds odd and polar opposite of UK education. My history teacher always reminded us if you're not a socialist/capitalist when you're young you haven't got a heart and if your not a capitalist/right winger when your old you haven't got a brain.

In Uni we were always enouraged to question all sides and even write essays arguing the opposite of our personal POVs as it removed bias and created far stronger arguments. Students get failed if they parrot a lecturers general views. Lecturers always provide a variety of arguments to the contrary and play devil's advocate - i.e Is global warming real like the data shows or has the data only shown warming as testing equipment is far more numerous and accurate than it was 20+ years ago.

My views went from far-left prior to a much more balanced mix of left and right wing views depending on the topics.

We pulled my kids out of elementary school a couple years back. The stuff they brainwash with is ridiculous. It's no wonder USA education is far behind the rest of the world. It's more about politics and agendas than reading/writing/math. My kids are average (maybe slightly better) and they are both currently working two grades ahead in math and science and not having any problems. I think most kids would be capable of this as well, if they weren't busy learning about BLM and why the earth is going to be dead in less than 12 years because of global warming.

It's more so subconscious. If we are random accidents then nothing we do matters. It leads to the exact sort of Stalinist and Maoist philosophies that are so deadly both morally and philosophically.

I love science, I graduated college with two science degrees. Evolution is not science. I don't want to divert the thread, but I am just saying it is a part of that same liberal dictatorialism, in the guise of science. Here is some evidence I collected that shows it is not based in actual empirical data:

Dinosaurs aren't as old as we're told, and they lived alongside humans
biological hurdles that evolution cannot overcome
why antibiotic resistance actually disproves evolution
the impossibility of abiogenesis
