I put this in the rant forum because it's kinda ridiculous, but I suppose it may be a positive rant I guess but anyway.

Had to take public transit home this evening and a group of high school age dudes were behind me talking fairly loudly as kids do.

So they were complaining about school coming up and the new curriculum for their gym class. I guess, from what I can tell all sports except badminton are banned because, it's the only sport with no contact where equipment can be sterilized in between.

Apparently even soccer is banned because their feet touch the ball or something.

The children were fairly incredulous and for lack of a better word, not happy with this and pointed out inconsistencies and hypocracies with the new rules and other such things.

In ways I wish supposedly rational adults would.

I dunno it brought a smile to my face and gave me hope that maybe the youngin's'll be alright.

The absolutely terrifying thing is, at least those kids knew the difference. We're rapidly approaching a cut off where we're going to have kids who never knew anything different than "restrictive" being normal. You know growing up for us the message was we were screwing up the environment for our kids, but what snuck up instead was glorifying isolation as the responsible thing.

Socially that's messed up but worse is removing the next generation from experiencing the world in person.
Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for posting this, S&F. I think most of these kids are pretty smart. They are coming of age in an unprecedented time, with so many things going on. I can’t imagine how they deal with all this. We never had to deal with anything like this when we were in school. I too have hope for the young ones.
