He is very focused... Sometimes almost too intense.
I see good things for him.
Hopefully he will stay single long enough to get that going.
He's a bit of a ladies man too. And he falls in love easily...

I believe its to do with electrician... not sure which of those you listed. He will be in school for two years if that narrows the choices down any.

Probably ET. It's a much longer school than EM. EM is like an electrician. ET will work more with integrated circuits and computers. He'll go to "A" school for ET first, then Nuke school after that, then Sub school if he opts for that. That's why they grab you for 6 years. He'll be in schools for 2 years before he even sees a ship.

Did you make a career with your training outside the military?

Uh, no. I became a librarian instead. :-)

He's doing his boot camp at a good time of year. I did mine (Great Lakes has been the only place for Navy Boot camp for 20 years now) in the summer- June-August, and it was horrendous with the swampy heavy heat. It won't be too cold or too hot for him right now. Every little bit of comfort helps during Boot Camp.

Sounds like he will have a decent job there. He could be retired in twenty years, and then be young enough to go do whatever he wants.

I wish him luck and more.
My sister's oldest son now about 62 left for the navy and did around 9 or 10 years on a sub and teaching in Idaho before he landed a civilian role at power plants. He was mostly up and down the east coast from Connecticut/New York to now North Carolina. He has made a fine living for himself and his family.

Best of luck to your son and hopes for the best.

I still think you are a few sammies short of a picnic, but I'd have a beer with you. Please wish your boy my best, and tell him to listen well, it will be key to survival. And enjoy the little things he sees. Memories of service are priceless.

Congrats to your daughter mate.

I passed out in 1983... such a proud moment for all.

Went back to civvy street in 92.

Passed out on numerous occasions afterwards for which I am not so proudπŸ˜‰πŸ€ͺ
