So its bottle necked by a few senators that most republicans don't trust anyway. Their way of exerting power and representing the insurance companies and making it look like some sore of constitutional dust up. Whatever some believe they are saying they are saying screw the republican party, the folks that elected Trump and the folks that elected them. They are so self righteous they rise above the fray to lecture one and all one way or another and demonstrate what looks like firm liberal holdings in the republican party, whatever Graham may say. I say that, willing to believe what he says if he can demonstrate it, because his words look like more flibbidy flab really.

Others talk of moving on. Which means on health care, the middle class is screwed and shall remain so. Wow just think of the legacy........you screwed the middle class working americans into the ground representing banks, insurance firms, industry and the hope that your kids will have a good job some day/

Mccains surgeons need to let him alone and say its too dangerous to work on him. SO his seat will be open when he dies.
the CUrrent sessions seat needs to be filled with a pro trump polotician. that would negate the deadlock and get those two women out of the conflict by the VP breaking the vote.

If it wasn't McCain, it would have been another one of 'em. The thing was never gonna pass. They've got their grubby little paws on everyone's wallet ... and they intend to never let go.

Maybe they didn't vote for it because it's a bad bill that will end insurance for millions of people, did you ever consider that?

They don't care about 5% of the population; that is not what this is about at all.

It's all about power plays and money. Hiding behind 5% of the population while using the word "Millions" as if it's a big number in this context is just their way of deflection.

If that is the case, we wouldn't have the ACA.

This is about retaining money and continued dividends paid and new ones available to those who pass.

How is not forcing people going to "end" their health care?

Oh, that's right ... it will end their health care because they won't be forced to buy it anymore by law because they don't want it.

It's a damn soap opera.

It's like WWF meets the lame portion of the walking dead where everyone just submits to negan and passive aggressively speaks up.

But why are you paying attention to them, pay attention to Trump, and the injustices of sexual rights and NK and CHina / India and this cop shooting the women from Aussie...

Don't care about what the politicians are doing, that's not enjoying the slight of hand tricks.

Have you ever stopped to consider that health Care wouldn't be so dammed expensive in the first place if not for insurance?

Health insurance is a scam. All insurance is. The only difference between this and the slots is that this isn't really optional. You can't easily choose to not need health Care.

So, they created insurance. Now they're betting you pay them now a year than the pay your doctor.
Works out for them on a big enough scale, but why stop there?
Bribe the system to allow a company to patent a cure for an ailment. Now that cure can be jacked in price to a million fold in profit and nobody can step in and undercut them.
People still buy it because they need it. They still afford it because the insurance company pays for most of it.

Before you know it, nobody can afford health Care without health insurance.

Next thing you see, some idiot wants to make it mandatory, with fines for those who can't afford it.

Actual people who can't afford health Care because health insurance is still too expensive... Because the insurance it's self has driven up the cost of basic medical attention beyond the reach of average people... Are legally supposed to pay a fine because they can't afford to pay for financial protection money to the very corporations that made basic health Care unaffordable to them in the first place.

Screw stopping at repealing the aca- outright ban health insurance and make Heath care affordable again.

This was not a repeal of Obama care. It was a test of our leadership. We all know who failed. We all know who passed.

Thats BS. SOME insurance is a scam like SOME mechanics are.

You forget that insurance is a business that makes allot of money and attracts allot of scumbags. There are well established companies out there that do what they say, pay what they say and sell services that are the saving grace of many people in bad situations.

Most people dont even know much about the subject and never care to learn. Thats why they distrust it.

Obama care isnt good. Thats all. It does the opposite of what it is supposed to do. Every dollar spent through it is worth 10 stolen from what could be a working more efficient system.

Private insurance should be private. Public healthcare should be part of our budget and separate.

Is that your own hyperbole or did you borrow it from somewhere else? It is not going to "end" insurance, ffs. The insurance companies will still be there. They're like car salesmen and herpes...they never go out of business.

What it actually will end is millions of people being forced, against their free will, to pay three and four times the cost for insurances that deliver less coverage and more hassle or face being penalized by the government for not being compliant. Working class citizens, who should not have to struggle financially are in fact struggling under the weight of exorbitant premiums they are forced to pay for insurance that also has ridiculous deductibles to overcome before any actual coverage kicks in.

I know people who are being forced to pony up premiums that exceed the amount of their rent and utilities combined under the current joke of a system, and have also been forced to take another job or dip into their savings just to make ends meet as a result of the extra financial burden. On top of that, the coverage included in this legalized extortion is an absolute joke as well.

When you've got a scenario in which every person within an entire country is being forced to shell out any percentage of their earnings...or suffer the consequences, and that money is never seen again by the payer in any tangible, beneficial way, there is a big effing problem.

They opened the door for this eventuality when they made auto insurance a legal requirement rather than an option...and we allowed it. And even though, like health insurance, the coverage has decreased while the premiums have rocketed, adding an extra financial burden, we still pony up the money because there are legal consequences if we refuse to comply. And again, just like health insurance, most people's options are limited by how much of this forced extortion they can afford within their monthly budget.

I don't know about anyone else, but if I'm going to shell out a third of my earnings to some insurance company for something that I probably won't even utilize every year, I'd rather pay that money to a private company, where at least I have some semblance of a choice in what I'm buying with it. If you own your car outright, you can control the amount of money you're forced by law to pay out to insure it every month. It doesn't change the fact that it is still forced of course, but at least there are options.

Well, we own our bodies outright. So we ought to at least have plenty of available options to care for them properly if we are being forced to pay for insurance, whether we currently have health issues or not. If they're going to continue forcing people to carry health insurance, they need to find a way to mitigate the financial drain on everyone. If they're not willing to do that, then they need to scrap it completely and start over.

They can kick and scream and cry about the plight of all these "millions of people" who will be left tragically bereft of healthcare coverage all they want...but it won't justify that they're screwing over millions more by continuing to use the same broken, unfair system. They're fear mongering and playing on emotions with that little 5% for the sole purpose of having an excuse to hang on to a system that benefits anyone and everyone but the people who are being forced to pay for it. They just leave out the part about the remaining 95% who are largely not OK with all of this and want something better for everyone...because if they counted them in, they'd be forced to admit that the current system is grossly unbalanced and would have no justification for keeping it, and they're not willing to do that. And the reason for that is, they are the ones who benefit the most from all of this.

The high premiums are due to instability in the market as a result of this ridiculous ongoing debate about who deserves what. It needs time to even out. And if you're so concerned about the cost of premiums and healthcare then why don't you go lobby your GOP buddies to support a bill addressing why the average salary of health insurance CEOs has risen steadily to a healthy $20m/year and the cost of service is completely unattainable for anyone regardless of which insurance they have. Do something to bring the true costs down, then, if you want premiums to go down. How come none of your GOP bills did anything about that?

Well you do mean McCain and Graham? I would say leadership from Trump was good just not quite enough, a few votes short. McCain and Graham have been running their moth about nothing from day one projecting themselves.

What kind of question is that? This issue has overshadowed the entire debate from day one. And even now when the thing is failing under it own weight we still hear about it. Mitch says the taxpayers will have to bail it out in order for it not to fail. Oh what a success story.
