While I agree with the OP about the manipulation of public opinion by the MSM, I also think it leaves an important detail out...

Money.

The MSM would not even exist at all were it not for sponsorship in the form of advertising revenues. The modern day MSM has no soul or motivation beyond that of making a profit. They will pander to whomever will pay the bills...anyone.

We hear all sorts of stories about the MSM being heavily biased to the left, and there's a reason. It's because this is their audience, and they know it. Are they partisan hacks? Sure they are, but only because their audience is. If somehow, overnight, the entire demographic of the MSM's audience swung to the right, guess what? The MSM would swing to the right, just as fast. You can count on it!

Regarding sensationalism (the underlying theme of the OP), hey, it sells ads because it attracts viewers, listeners and readers. That the message changes daily should come as no surprise either. The minute one story gets too much mileage the MSM is scrambling for the next sensational headline to grab your attention...and sell advertisements.

It's all about the money!!

They (the MSM) don't have any vested interest in anything. They are the biggest whores in the universe when it comes to this, they'll do and say anything to sell an advertisement. They truly will!

That people get spun up about it is pretty comical (actually) when you take it all in this context.

I totally agree with the OP.

The sad thing is though. That everyone on here will agree with the OP. Its just that both halves of the "debate". Will think its only the other guy that was played.
