Why would should Christians get angry if someone burns a bible
It's just a book with words on it
We are chtistians who worship Christ, not bibliophobes who worship paper and print

Strange how people put value on irrelevant items

Too bad the ACLU didn't take the case up. I don't see how New York Penal Law § 485.05 Hate crimes could have been used to convict as a hate crime. The code specifies an act, such as assault, or intimidation against a person. The books were found by a random teacher.

It's not like Stanislav Shmulevich broke into a targeted person's room and left the victim's own book in his own toilet. Something like that probably would have qualified under the law.

A good lawyer could have gotten the prosecutor to drop the charges.

If it is your property, you have every right to do with it as you please.

That's right, and that's because it isn't a hate crime. Even 300 hours of community service for public mischief is unjust. The university officials said it was nothing more than vandalism, but charged him for hate crime under pressure from Muslim groups.

When you think about it, you could probably burn anything and it'd be ok.

Like burn one of those things, but have like 3 people nearby sobbing hysterically. An onlooker might just chalk it up to some bizarre, liberal, expressive, interpretive poetry thing and congratulate them for their fine work.

A right to burn qurans and bibles.. (and flags)...?

First, think global warming; burn as little as possible!!

First, only in a free country, where people are allowed to freely express themselves is such a thing allowed (within the law, of course; buy the bible, and then burn it in a legal fashion...).
King Trump (and other fascists) has his own ideas...

I thought we already had laws on burning the flag.

1 year in prison or a $10,000 fine.

I have heard stories of Bibles being pulled from burnt buildings with

only the covers hurt.In the south we even put Bibles in each corners

of a building or church mostly. They are wrapped air tight and put in the cement of the foundation

as a from of protection and respect.

Can't help with the quran but grand paw keep a J C Whitney catalog or a sears and roebuck catalog in the out house.

Remember when a Pace University student threw Qurans in the toilet? He got 300 hours of community service for disorderly conduct. he was originally charged with two counts of criminal mischief as a hate crime.

Student nabbed in Koran dunk

Exactly the point I'm trying to make, but that many here are completely missing.
