Well, with players like this, anti's are going to have tough sledding pushing the gun control agenda. This guy has been one of the most vociferous proponents in the CA legislature pushing gun control measures one after the other while behind doors he's illegally trading in the exact guns he's trying to limit control of. Hypocritical d-bag is all I can think of...

Federal indictment issued against Leland Yee and others

(04-04) 14:32 PDT SAN FRANCISCO -- A federal grand jury indictment against state Sen Leland Yee and 28 other defendants adds a conspiracy charge to the seven felony counts the now-suspended lawmaker faced for allegedly promising political favors and gun trafficking to undercover agents in exchange for $62,600 in campaign contributions.

Gun control has been beaten time and time again by facts.

They can't use criminal activity anymore as an excuse to punish the law abiding.

The old excuses aren't working anymore and I have noticed that it is working far less with younger people. If you can't bring the younger teen and 20 somethings along with you anti-gun agenda, then you don't have anything.

I have also found that so many of my friends, who are very liberal in many respects, have begun actively advocating for their gun rights on social media. They've been posting videos of their day at the range, buying guns and ammo, and expressing pro 2nd Amendment opinions. This is NOT by accident.

Much of the younger crowd many of us would deem liberals are really libertarians with liberal flavorings. They believe in socialized healthcare, but also believe in individual rights. They are active advocates for the less fortunate via government intervention and are willing to pay the taxes necessary, yet they are free speech and 2nd Amendment absolutists. They are willing to use government to help people..But they are not willing to let government take away their tongues and teeth.

I may not agree with this generation on a lot of things. But I am hopeful if they can find a way to make their brand of social-libertarianism work. Frankly I hope they do.

Oh there is Hitler again! I really wish people would read about German history (not directly directed at you OP). He actually laxed the laws substantially. Obama too, hell I couldn't legally carry where I live until he allowed us to carry in National Parks....(now that doesn't change what has happened since...)

"In 1928, after a near decade of hyperinflation destroyed the structural fabric of the society, a rapidly expanding three-way political divide between the conservatives, National Socialists, and Communists prompted the rapidly declining conservative majority to enact the Law on Firearms and Ammunition. This law relaxed gun restrictions and put into effect a strict firearm licensing scheme. Under this scheme, Germans could possess firearms, but they were required to have separate permits to do the following: own or sell firearms, carry firearms (including handguns), manufacture firearms, and professionally deal in firearms and ammunition. This law explicitly revoked the 1919 Regulations on Weapons Ownership, which had banned all firearms possession.

The 1938 German Weapons Act[edit]
The 1938 German Weapons Act, the precursor of the current weapons law, superseded the 1928 law. As under the 1928 law, citizens were required to have a permit to carry a firearm and a separate permit to acquire a firearm. Furthermore, the law restricted ownership of firearms to "...persons whose trustworthiness is not in question and who can show a need for a (gun) permit." But under the new law:

Gun restriction laws applied only to handguns, not to long guns or ammunition. The 1938 revisions completely deregulated the acquisition and transfer of rifles and shotguns, as was the possession of ammunition."[3]
The legal age at which guns could be purchased was lowered from 20 to 18.[4]
Permits were valid for three years, rather than one year.[4]
The groups of people who were exempt from the acquisition permit requirement expanded. Holders of annual hunting permits, government workers, and NSDAP members were no longer subject to gun ownership restrictions. Prior to the 1938 law, only officials of the central government, the states, and employees of the German Reichsbahn Railways were exempted.[3]
Jews were prohibited from possessing any dangerous weapons, including firearms. They were also forbidden from the manufacturing or dealing of firearms and ammunition.[3]
Under both the 1928 and 1938 acts, gun manufacturers and dealers were required to maintain records with information about who purchased guns and the guns' serial numbers. These records were to be delivered to a police authority for inspection at the end of each year.

On November 11, 1938, the Minister of the Interior, Wilhelm Frick, promulgated Regulations Against Jews' Possession of Weapons. This regulation effectively deprived all Jews living in those locations of the right to possess firearms or other weapons.[5]"
