Okay I just dont get it. I just downlaoded a little clip of some news reporter in Mexico, I think, he was a some big crater with some guy who is supposed to be an expert on rods. Now they were there and caught some on film. My question is, why not lay some big net with sticky stuff on it, kinda like a flystrip, over this big crater and see if you can capture some? If they are some kind of flying insect, this seems like a reasonable attempt to capture one, yet I have NEVER heard of anyone trying this, why?

The orange colour is obviousley a tell tale sign in these cases that I will look out for in the future

Rods are just normal bugs. They just are moving quickly compared to the frame rate. I have seen videos that immitate the occurance simply by zooming in just a little.

Rods are just an optical illusion......
