Women’s World Cup 2023

Thanks to host countries, Aus. & NZ. Sorry for the ugly violence that occurred prior to the campaign.

But another four years have passed and the games continue!

I overheard a loudmouth exclaim that “soccer is boring…” and more stupidity poured out of Einstein sealing the fate of his home country, Canada!

Congrats to NZ on the win. And thank you Nigeria for the hard fought tie! And even Vietnam blocked a PK against the USA (Alex Morgan of all people!).

Soccer is not boring!

To the glory and the heartbreak that comes with this tournament!!!

Maybe I should channel my anger at barstool pigeons instead of randomly ranting on the interweb!!

But seriously, when you proclaim, “I didn’t even know that the women had a World Cup….” my ire ha to be spread like margarine to keep me from focusing on the fact that it ain’t butter!!

USA had a shooting gallery at the end and ended up 3 -nil.

Seriously.

I have Mia Ham as one of my security questions for some online account…

So i found the whole not knowing who Brandy Chastain is very

And like typical’Mericans, all they care about is who won. I mean, you watch the entire game in rapt attention ignoring everyone/thing else just to see something like Sophia Smith’s smile on scoring the first goal of the USA defense of the WC title!

Soccer is not boring!!

Soccer is boring, maybe wider goals might make it more interesting, unlikely
Women’s soccer, fun watching the mistakes that they tend to make regularly, adds a dynamic to the game that men’s soccer lacks
I won’t watch any, absolutely no interest but
Enjoy
Btw, you don’t get to decide for me what’s boring or not

m.youtube.com...

And that team that celebrated their 13th goal to nil, acting like they just won the World Cup, at the end of the video, pure class pure hubris

I watched 2019 wwc, it is what got me into soccer. I truly enjoyed watching them win.

After that, I watched a West Ham United fixture and have never looked back.

I am now forever blowing bubbles. WHU!

I will be watching the US team the whole tourney. I WILL watch them make history with the three-peat this year.

(I jest, of course. Still....)

Thanks for supporting my point! It was unintentional but you paid attention and provided more commentary about a specific game than I did.

Games can be boring but so can people. And then you notice something and that person or that sport is not boring.

Remember, you are the Zen master who makes the grass green!

Hey, I left when Japan went up 4-nil on Zambia but that was because it was past my bedtime! So even I temper my support with reality.

It’s not my sport, will watch purely because my country is being represented.
Don’t mind hockey or netball either occasionally when it’s a national team.

But for the most, soccer isn’t my game 🦕

Against the time of possession and the flow of the game, South Africa scores n the rain!!!

I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but ain’t instant tea either!!

30 minutes plus stoppage. Can we see another upset of a European favorite???

IMO, boring is not even relevant to this conversation.

Asking the questions that must be asked!!

Ned v Por is a tough nut to crack. Both seem atrong but you have to play the full 90.

Both can get a bit lackadaisical in defense at times.
Netherland…. love the Orange Men! But I am going with my gut and not knowing enough to say otherwise (typical Merican!!) and going for Oortugul.

Either way, this has beeta very entertaining opening round of any World Cup in recent history!!

And that is what makes women’s soccer so awesome, own goals and terrible errors, consistently
I don’t mean that to be nasty, it makes does actually the game more interesting

A tie can be a win. Bu… win the battle, lose the war.

Jamaica played France for a tough 90 minutes. Then a foul leads to a red card for their star player. The stoppage time end in a nil - nil tie (which at any other time would be a win) but the loss of their star player in thext game looms large.

It is not about who won the match but what happens to the team now. How do they cope? Can they win one? Or is that the end of their campaign??

And thank to our west coast position the Arg-Itl match (and the Germany match) are coming up.

Still, not boring!

Another close match!

Italy’s sub makes the difference with 5 minutes left. The game had gotten a bit argy bargy at that moment.

Again, past my bedtime so will have to catch the score of Germany- Morocco later.

Cohost MZ has an equalizer disallowed. Philippines jold on to upset!

Drama the whole second half. Lot of heads colliding though. Lots of stoppage time.

A bit of chaos in the group now!

Sui-Norlooks like a good match. I may watch the first half…

First round of group games thoughts.

USA first game shaky on the finish. Like 28-0 on shots but only a handful on target. Rappinoe looked old and rusty. Netherlands are a significant step up from Vietnam.

Japan looks deadly. May have been competition, but they are together and clinical.

Germany as well.

Sweden is always good.

Also Spain, England, and Austrailia look pretty good.

New Zealand looked good vs. Norway but let off in the following match.

Canada, like the USA, seems plagued by group stage rust, which can get you for complacency.

I think USA will ultimately get knocked off with a major target on their backs. Like a quarter or semi-final game they never wake up in.

Sweden? They're sick of runner-up.

Group play, so no OT. No PKs.

The game was great to watch! Worthy of a semifinal.

First round games don’t matter?? I think Alex Morgan missing a PK and being offside this match lights the fuse. You saw team play happen for the US in the second half. This attitude will continue and may be a turning point.

Brazil, Germany, England, Norway all looked good so far. I haven’t noticed an underdog.

I have mostly enjoying each match as I can watch them.

The great part is just to sit back and watch!

And there is more to come!!
