This smacks of Dan getting the boot.

Normal procedure for retiring anchors of longstanding is to telegraph the retirement years in advance (ie Peter Jennings), similar to peaceful CEO transitions in corporate america.

Looks like in a little while all we will have is FOX and the blogs. (somewhat disconcerting to even a conservative like myself).

Who is his replacement? I don't watch network news anymore.
