Congressman Proposes the Capital of USA to move from DC to Nebraska

A key political storyline of the past year has been the civil war between the Republican establishment and Tea Party grassroots conservatives. This battle is likely to intensify and play out on the national stage this year ahead of the 2014 elections.
One Republican Senate candidate, Ben Sasse of Nebraska, has proposed what is perhaps the most drastic anti-establishment idea to date: move our nation's capital from Washington D.C.... to Nebraska.

Sasse put out a 30-second local TV ad called "The Outsider" during football broadcasts over the weekend with that goal in mind. Here is the extended five-minute long cut:

I mean just moving the capital will not solve anything.

Hard to believe Sasse would construct such an advertisement. Seems to me this message has a specific target audience. It'll be very interesting to see whether or not this an individual's strategy or a trend in RNC campaigning this year. My skeptic's red flag was waving the whole time ... but it did make me think.

I think we are seeing the beginning of a campaign to run for the White-house. That video was so transparent.


That ad was a BIG budget production and not really about moving the capital. It was about Sasse moving into the Whitehouse.

Does the GOP have a new golden boy now that Christie has melted down and the Tea party seems to be dead in the water.

As good as that ad was; it's going to take a more focused effort than that to even get the nomination.

Ummm. Wouldn't it be better if the capital moved to Vegas. Vegas is full of corruption and is big on entertainment. Maybe the people bribing congress would be just a tad too corrupt for Vegas..

Best to stick them out in the boonies with Bigfoot. Congress seems to have the traits of a mythical entity. You can't find reality in much of what they do.

Sounds like a desperate plea to get money to the state, which has nothing except corn, cows and the religion of the "Huskers."

Strategically it's a bad idea since that's where Offutt is located. Having our "leaders" and a base focused on strategic nuclear defense is like killing two birds with one stone for our nations enemies.

I'm a citizen from an entirely different country, and I say the capital of the USA should move to the deepest darkest pits of hell, but good thing for you that senator has just as much say as I do. Neither will happen don't worry, although I do believe the US capital should move to the deepest pits of the abyss never to return again.

That video is so hard to watch (it keeps on pausing and not starting). I don't know if my internet is wonky or if the production values are too high.

As soon as I read the thread title I instantly was reminded of John Titor's statement that the US Capital would be moved to Omaha Nebraska.

Now I am not saying Titor is a real time traveler, but it certainly is an interesting "coincidence" to say the least.
