Well....just let me say that the American team played one hell of a game. But in the end the Canadian defence was just too much....it was like they built a wall on the blue line. 1-0 is a super tight game.

As for the #f***canada hashtag....I read a bunch of the tweets and laughed my ass off! I don't take it seriously...I see it as a friendly rivalry....better luck next time Team USA.

This is freaking hilarious!

Well, to put it this way...when USA hockey team loses, the citizens will cry, complain and swear profanity at Canada.

If Canada team loses, its citizens will do the same, but the Vancouver, BC extremists will probably take to the streets and cause riots (high probability due to Stanley Cup rioting - twice)

The hockey wars between these two nations is intense to say the least, but at the end of the day, everyone moves on and gets back to watching NHL games and cheering on their home (or favourite) team anyway.

Yep. I found the twitter thing funny as well. A little trash talk over a sporting event is all in good fun. Let's face it, Americans would be trolling the crap out of us if they had won, so we need to get our digs in while we can. I honestly thought the U.S was going to win that game because of how well they'd been rolling offensively. But Canada's defense was other worldly. At least the U.S.A can still take home the bronze if they trounce the finns.

The one thing I have noticed is that Canadians get pissed off easily when they/we lose to the US. But if a Canadian (hockey) team lost to another country, there is less sobbing or hatred going on.

I guess you can sense the closeness or relationship that Canada has to it's southern neighbour. And like you say, it is all in good fun and normal for the general sport. I just wonder if other countries square off just the same as Can or US...example: Czech Republic vs Slovakia; etc...

There is a pretty big rivalry between Canada and Russia as well, but I think the language barrier keeps that one from getting as heated. We definitely care more when we lose to the U.S. Part of it is because Americans like to rub it in our faces that they are the best at everything (best military, best at basketball, best at baseball, etc etc etc). So hockey is sort of the only thing we have. It's kind of sad really lol

But we're going to live it up while we can!
