And that rant is somehow not a "protest"?

Why?

Because there is no cardboard sign and street march involved?

How did it go "far off topic"? This appears to be a rant thread... and just who was it that dragged it "far off topic" by questioning whether the OP has participated in "protests"?

She presented a rant, a protest against the jubilation in the wake of deaths, then at least offered her "solution", whether one agrees with that solution or not. That's more than 99% of the marching, sign-carrying protesters can manage to get done... they generally get stuck at the "rant" stage.

"Landing on top" means that homelessness and hunger are no longer a daily threat. When I was homeless my kids were 6,8,10. I did not just work myself out of that, I had three small humans.

I don't celebrate these deaths but I understand the lack of sympathy for their deaths.

When there was mob activity we go after the mobsters, and when the government wont do it, we need to create an air where the government will start doing what WE hired them to.

But murder and witch hunts are never the answer... this is why we have laws and say justice is blind and allow the guilty to speak and show evidence and have punishments to fit crimes.

The people of this country have tried to use the system and proper channels to correct America's problems for decades. Our rogue government isn't listening. They're only getting worse, and doing quite the opposite of what we want. They have become the murderers and witch hunters against their own people, and anyone else who gets in their way. They have set themselves up in lavish lifestyles off the blood, sweat, and tears of the people they are supposed to be serving. They have conspired with the banksters to rob the American people of the wealth they once had.

I may not agree with lynch mobs, and indiscriminate killing, but I have no sympathy for them when someone decides to play by the same rules they are playing by. Which is no rules at all. The system is broken, and using a broken system to fix itself isn't gonna work.

I believe one thing. We need to fire them all, every last one, and get rid of some of the current laws now on the books that are unconstitutional, and add a few more laws pertaining to our new elected officials.

THAT is my thought process... every single one.

Can this happen by voting, I don't know, but I don't think so, not after the last couple of elections which seemed terribly rigged imho. But we are the people who started this particular ball to roll, and we are the same people to stop it. As I said, get half this damn country marching on washington, just half the country... and we will see changes the very next day.

All of it, every thing... is up to us. All this omg they are out of control, omg we cannot do anything, is a load of BS because together, we can. I KNOW it. Will some of us die, yes, will some end up in jail for a time, probably.... but we CAN if we do it together.

What we can never do, is decide murder is ever okay. Its not, its murder. We are a civilized people, and we should act like it.

You may not understand this, but homelessness and hunger are a daily threat for everyone, all the time. You never know what can happen at any given moment to trigger that, but its always a threat.

It's why people work so hard and try to hedge their bets so they can hopefully avoid it when that unknown and unseen incident arrives which could cause it... but its always a threat.

Perhaps you meant to say when homelessness and hunger are not today's reality.

And today, I am neither homeless nor hungry, but everyday can be a good day, if you look at it in just the right light. But I, like you, have seen both.

Anyone, from the insanely wealthy, to the poor, all have homelessness and hunger as a daily threat. Most just refuse to acknowledge its possibility.

Everyone benefits from the hard work and blood of others. Everyone. You, me, everyone. Because no matter what you have, someone, some where, has given their blood sweat and tears for it to get to you.

The bed I sleep in, someone worked their ass off to make it.... but the fact that I bought it, gave them a job and perhaps means they ate.

Do you wear nike's? sweat shop.

It's all in the light you wish to view the world in.... People like politicians, lawyers, and bankers would not exist if not for the fact we give them the jobs through our world view.

We want laws? Gotta admit someone is going to step up and be a lawyer then.

Want a country? Gotta admit someone is going to step up and say they can help run it.

Don't want to carry all your wealth with you wherever you go or bury it in the back yard for someone to find and steal? Someone is going to step up and say they will take it off your hands and keep it safe for you.

Want to make more money while doing nothing? Someone is going to step up and create a place where you have a chance to do just that.

It is us who create the lawyers and politicians and bankers of the world... if not for us, they might have been the one to make the bed you sleep in.

The things I dislike are certain qualities in people, I dislike liars, but most lie... from the poorest to the richest. I dislike people who don't work for the things they want....but very few appreciate working, and everyone it seems tries to get out of it, from the poorest of them on up.

Hate the qualities that are abhorrent, but when you do you will find, qualities know no class and are not limited to those at the top of the food chain. Those at the top are just smarter.

It's not just people's attitudes towards bankers, the hatred spews out on to politicians, the 1%, benefit claimants, immigrants the homeless. It seems people need hate figures and scapegoats in their lives to detract from their own personnel dark sides.

I couldnt agree more.

There is no path to fixing things other than through going around it.

The entire game is rigged so that most us have to lose most of the time, while they all win nonstop everytime.

There is no way to win this game playing by the rules that are set, this is by design.

So to fix things one must not play their game by their rules, one must make his own rules or not play the game at all.

That is why I said above that when you start disliking qualities that are abhorrent, you find those qualities in people everywhere and not limited to certain groups.

But it's hard to look within for causes, its easier to look without and find somewhere to place blame. The blame is ours, if only for simply allowing it.

There is a path to fixing what is really wrong. You just don't want to take it, no one it appears wants to take it. And it's a path that if we all took, not one shot would be fired.

I think its a matter of all agreeing to it.

Really? Have you made it to retirement yet with more money than you had when you worked your arse off?

Have you gone broke twice, homeless, and still landed on top? I don't need advice.

What I Do have is less tangible, but more gratifying. I have everything I've ever wanted. Hard to put a price on that.

In the end, though, I'll die with the most toys - everything I ever wanted.

Me too

It's really hard to come to terms with ones own dark side. I'm struggling, but getting there. We all like to think, we don't have a dark side, that we are not selfish and greedy rascals. "Oh no, not me" "the darkness is over there", points finger at scape goat.

You know, it took me loosing everything, twice... (three times perhaps but then I hadn't much to loose that once so I am not sure if it counts!) and living on the street once to realize just who I am... my dark side.

I was face to face with it, with myself, and decided it was all BS. Everything I ever thought I wanted, was BS and worth nothing.

Now, I am happier than I have ever been in my entire life, all the while living in a one room apartment with a shared bathroom between 4 families, and running water entails me running to get it and dishes involves buckets of water up and down the long hall.

But I have finally learned whats really important in life... it took everything to learn it.

Was I greedy and materialistic when I was younger... oh hell yes, but in the middle of it I spend my time convincing myself what a non-materialistic and wonderful person I was...lol...

We love to tell ourselves BS...

I finally stopped... and found true happiness. Would I mind much if I had a more comfortable existence, no... but I also know that its not whats important either. Things will never bring anyone happiness.

All your replies I have read are simply without merit at all, they wreak of apathy.

Yes "oh my god the poor bankers, 6 of them have died and their extremely wealthy families now suffer more than anyone living in their palaces as they morn the loss of their bread winners, they only have enough money left for the trust funds of their next 26 generations, however will they survive?"

Where is your bleeding heart for the millions of lives broken by these swine?

You must have money or be wealthy, or at minimum never had to worry about eating tomorrow, as you dont have a single grain of understanding for what it is like to lose it all, otherwise your comments would be different.

You remind me of the OP bemoaning her child losing part of her trust fund.....LOL.....complaining about losing a trust fund? Seriously? 99% will never have a trust fund in the first place.

Go cry your tears for the greedy in their palaces, I will cry for the already broke made even more poor by the evil of these swine.

They can rot, I will not shed 1 tear if they all suffer, the regular folks suffer every day, they are welcome for the experience.

It is I find, to be most humbling actually, having suffered it myself a couple of times now.

Maybe you should try it, then and only then, can you judge others.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

I can only speak for myself here. I've gone broke twice, lost everything I had in both cases. I've been homeless - lived in a car, and slept on cardboard laid in the snow behind dumpsters when I didn't have a car to live in. There isn't much about homelessness that you can school me on.

I must conclude that by "on top", you mean "more money". Nope, I haven't. What I Do have is less tangible, but more gratifying. I have everything I've ever wanted. Hard to put a price on that. Besides, I never wanted to be rich

This person you speak of is the one I quoted above, I linked the entire post so perhaps you should rethink your opinion.

Also, I did not bemoan the loss, I took a risk, and lost some... it was a risk I chose to take with what I worked 18 hours a day 7 days a week to provide my children in order that they had a good start in life. The loss was based on risk... I don't bemoan anything. My choice.

I worked harder in my life than most people who are jubuliant about murder and death.

As far as the person to whom you reply, he is in the shower, in a bathroom shared by 4 families... so I don't suppose you can say how he never knew what being poor was like. He is poor. And he was raised in Appalachia, a place in America that even people from third world countries are shocked about the level of poverty.

The rest, I am sure he will reply to himself. I just didn't want to let that remain unsaid.

Using civilized methods against the "law of the jungle" which is the rules these people use wont and cant work.

Nature is really good at making things "survive". One cannot make treaties with a great white shark, it only obeys the "law of the jungle". One cannot talk reason to a crocodile, it only play by the "rules of the jungle".

These people are no different. If they obeyed civilized laws and rules, they wouldnt have STOLEN a trillion from hard working folks, only to hold the entire economy from mickeydees to the FED hostage unless they got another trillion in the bailouts.

This is what actually happened.

They do not and will not ever play by the rules.

You dont talk a polar bear down, you either outrun it, submit to it, or you kill it, there is no other outcome.

Peace is not the only way. In fact nature tells us by easy examination peace is a lie. There can never be any peace as long as some want and others have.

If all have there would not be any conflict, save for those whom greed commands as they will never have enough.

This is not the real world, yet greed is still in play.

We humans make more than enough for all to live, some must live A LOT better than all or they wont ever be happy.

Human greed is the problem, always has been, seems like it always will be.

If not for this one thing, humans would have already risen to the stars, and claimed other worlds.

You never win anything by becoming that thing which you detest. That is how you loose.

You win through intelligence, and never backing down from a higher moral ground and never letting the "other" turn you into one of them.

You don't fight fire with fire, if you want to put it out, you fight fire with water.
