Per a F-16.net thread. 12 F-22s out of Langley and 300 personnel are deploying to Kadena.

I've seen nothing in the media nor anywhere else except that thread on this. It raises some questions in that it doesn't say an exercise, per say, it says "deploying". What does deploying mean and what's the "wiggle room" in that deployment.

Is there something else going on that isn't been covered by the media or is this just another "message"?

Touch and go I would say.
Raptor pilots need to keep their certs up too.

It's an Air Force installation. Squadrons routinely deploy there for training and to rotate out personnel. Spent a few months there myself, nice place!

Makes sense, yet 12 ? I think the most that have gone to Kadena has been 4 units.

Maybe I'm overthinking this but it is interesting....

Maybe a show of force to cool off China a little. The US likes to handle China this way. Launch missiles over Taiwan? ...no problem we'll send a Carrier battle group through the strait. Declare a air defense zone around the Senkaku Islands?...no problem we'll send a B-52 right through it.

Each Unit/Squadron would consist of about 12 A/C and roughly 300 personnel. At least the ones I served with did

Thanks.! Looks like the usual then.

Still, 12 is a 300% increase to previous deployments.

Gotta think the Chinese are burning some midnight oil on this one....

Could be about that UFO over Okinawa the other day
Probably just standard military procedure though

We used to get 12-16 aircraft come through on routine deployments all the time. Nothing new there. And previous deployments were 6 aircraft.

The top one. More maintenance, but less drama.

Unless it's a one time flight. LOL

Hey! Back off ladies. It was a honest question with a honest answer.

Don't we have some F-22's and B52's and B-2's at Guam as well?
