1 and 2 are very likely in some people's view. It's not a question of simplicity but this DID happen and was a normal event for a few decades. Snowden didn't come up with a brainstorm or do something many many people before him did as well...they just ran TO and not FROM the CIA in most previous examples. The NSA was usually playing support to help them hide, not hunt them down.

More imortantly tho.. Snowden has released next to nothing to the public. Almost nothing of value, whatsoever.

Out of reported 50,000 pages (or files, not clear which), about 446 514 pages (>1% 1%) have been released over 5 months beginning June 5, 2012. At this rate, 89 100 pages per month, it will take 47 42 years for full release. Snowden will be 77 72 years old, his reporters hoarding secrets all dead.
Source

Well, I know I have 42 years to wait...and of course, we ALL believe he gave up his only possessions in life which can save his life (the data he stole), right? Just..handed it off like nothing much, to reporters and journalists to hold ..while he'd go to Russia with absolutely nothing but his good looks to offer?

I've always thought accepting that last part on faith, and from someone who spent their adult life serving US Intelligence is silly. I mean..he was a trained and professional liar for 6+ years...but Snowden must be 100% honest and telling no white lies at all now ......because?

It's a leap of pure faith and against the facts as we see them....I'm not capable of. It's like we're trying to INVENT reasons to make this kid into a folk hero .....and 42 years from now, we may even see what the heck it was all about.

He had no idea what he stole from the NSA, he just stoled something. It seems to me he was acting under orders from Russia to steal anything that could give American Intelligence a bad image. Then he released this to the public. These were his priorities. Then, because the people got all this doom porn, the people acclaimed Snowden as an hero. Excuse me, but if someone gives me a nice big pile of candies, I would ask him what's the catch, not just gobble it up.

If Snoden wasn't a Russian spy before, he certainly is now...now that he has shared classified US documents with Russia. In fact, it appears that he is also a German spy, etc...

To bad about the other thread about snowden, they suddently removed, that makes it hard to have a discussion about something that might be importen

Anyways, i dont want to derrail your thread, so i just want to say i think your rigth, when you say we cant trust any of the stories coming out, there will allways be some kind of spin to it. So maybe we shouldnt look to closely at the stories, that mostly are distractions anyways. But more look at the things that are happening, and then try to find away to make things better, instead of looking for someone to blame.

I personally hope, that one day we learn to love, instead of fearing, each other. So people who are affraid wont have to spy on each other to feel safe..

That is my 2 cents
Peace

My point here is that Snoden like any employee at any business used it for his criminal activity. When it came close to his being caught for it, he made it look as if he was doing America a favor and that he is some what a saint, but the info he released (and the MSM not letting you know) was already made public before he made it public.

So what is up with that?

If you REALLY believe ALL the documents where made public before Snowden made it public, then I do have a bridge to sell you!

Here is how real government crooks work:

1. if you are guilty of something, try to look innocent.
2. accuse your accusers of the same crime.
3. then repeat it as many times as possible that the accuser is guilty so that the label sticks.
4. take focus away from the facts by using false accusations
5. create gossip, rumour and unfounded accusations

There is abuses all over the world. The question is, why are they focusing our attention on the US alone? What is it they want us to ignore?

Yes, ask questions and seek the truth and it will all come together. collapse the US and drive us all into a OWO that would be the ultimate goal of those behind the scenes and the MSM.

But as I said there seems to be something amiss with this whole snoden thing once you have all the stories and knowledge none of it makes sense.

My friend they were I saw it with my own eyes read it and downloaded it. the day snoden came out with it. It had been made public weeks before. the link is here at ATS somewhere on one of the earlier posts at the time of snoden went public when he left. Whatever it is it was all planned out.

the five points above is exactly what snowden is doing. why are you so blind just to say the Govts do this? The MSM are doing it too.

No you didn't.... Snowden withheld information, as stated by him...

sorry to say this but most of what I get out of the MSM stories makes Snowden out to be the good guy.

Number 4 is more likely. he was giving the hackers (who are a world wide group of people) some of which are Russian and was getting some of the profit (hense why he had bank accounts not in his name that he is currently is using). When he knew he was to be uncovered for pilfering the system for credit/debit cards and Identity info and had been handing this off. He contacted his criminal buddies to help him and he fled. and to cover himself so he could claim he was framed he let all this public data go to the MSM (but the data was already available publicly on the NSA site it was just no one knew it at the time).

My vote is for 4 - a criminal

Now you are calling me a liar.

But I know what I have seen and what I had read so, if you go you can find the zip file yourself and download it from the NSA site. It is tons of stuff to read and good luck reading it all. I got rid of it because it was not so interesting to me and besides the MSM was publishing it little by little anyway or at least parts they felt helps their cause. Remember they are releasing edited text from it and it is out of context to distort and dissemble the truth.

does anyone know why ATS removed the Snoden leak Documents thread?

And will this thread about snowden be next?

Which one? There are so many ....and that's kinda the point (if I had to guess why fellow staff may have seen fit to remove that).

I'll just bet we can all have the discussion without each having a slight variation of the same topic to discuss it on. That is what gets maddening.. Following the same chat, with the same people making the same points in different stages of the same basic debate ...across 2-3-4 threads at once.

I wasn't involved in that removal tho..so it is just my hunch and 2 cents.

all released data that Snowden gave out was already released for public view.

They no longer have a direct link that was shared previous on ATS. But you can down load the info by submitting a letter of request to the FOIA for the documents. In the list that is public you will find the papers and topics the Guardian has been releasing, and know for a fact the info was declassified in starting in April 2011 is what Snowden gave them. Many of the papers are topics that were also threads started here at ATS.

Just go to the NSA site and request the info. You can ask for it all or in parts.

Oh Yeah it does cost money to get them to give it to you. the info is free but the work to release it to you is not.

Not calling you a liar.... I have seen those documents, but if you think that is ALL of it... then your missing my point. That was only about 1% of the documents.

They haven't released even 0.01% of what he has. But if you get all the files that go back to the 1940's yah it is a lot of info but it is all free info you can ask for it, there is nothing secretive about it and nothing new.

It is just that there is nothing so far released that wasn't already known and released.

So why all the MSM hype? Was snowden a spy or is all this a conspiracy to distract and divide?

I think both actually.

So you think none of it was secretive? lol ok man... sure you will find stuff not so secretive, it's a # load of info, not all of it going to be secretive. It's not really about secrets, it's about how they control you!

I agree with that.

It was secretive at one time or another.
