The government's defense of constant surveillance of the American public reached a new level of absurdity when Obama compared Paul Revere to the NSA. Now it's time for the corporate billionaires to defend what their puppet Obama can't. Enter Bill Gates and Marc Andreesen to tell that we need to trust the NSA and we're too stupid to understand the technology. William Binney, former Technical Director of the NSA worldwide understood the technology and has been telling us that the NSA is breaking the law.

The comments from the video I found interesting are Bill Gates, while speaking about trusting government, after so many anti-trust allegations against MSoft during the early years it's a little comical.

And while anti-trust doesn't necessarily have anything to do with "trust" as blindly trusting an authority or organization, the following article may tie the two in together:

I seriously wonder if many operations were not even directed at average day people. Since they are so boring and useless anyway.

Sure some people check up on their girlfriends, wives and classmates. And an occasional person might get a target on their back for political motives, but the business aspect to me is the most compelling reason for creating a program like this to begin with. Profit is a big motive.

This insight may explain why certain powerful or prominent people against it are against simply because they are on the losing end.

This is the most ridiculous piece of assumptive bull shizzle I have seen in a while. "Billionaires" do NOT back the NSA.... Especially globally.

The only reason Gates is making these comments is because he has allowed the NSA certain liberties within Microsoft and now that the cat is out of the bag, he has a PR problem. Nothing , nothing less.

Previous to the mid - late 90's when MS was fighting the DOJ anti-trust and Stacker suits Gates and company believed they were big dogs in the world arena. They found out that regardless of the charges they could not win against the the US government or legal system determined to take them down a bit.

I point to the ridiculous assertions such as 1) Stacker compression was the sames as LZ compressiion, 2) that putting the AOL, CompuServe software in a folder on the desktop was giving IE an advantage or 3) that deleting the IE icon from the desktop some removed the integrated browser subsystem.

The point is, they lost in the face of all logic and learned a lesson. The government wins if it wants to regardless of facts. That lesson was probably one reason they folded to the NSA demands. I don't see the NWO connection here as much as an attempt at self preservation for Gates and his money. He now goes with the flow, easier that way. Other companies / billionaires are in the same boat IMO.

Yeah, the Snowden leaks revealed a lot about NSA having access to their private systems. But the synergy between the big IT players and intell community, economically, is pretty clear. They are in the business of making money, the government pays big money. For instance check out this, about the CIA paying 600 million to Amazon for cloud services. www.huffingtonpost.com... I haven't heard anything specific about Amazon spying, but the economic partnerships are really obvious. And for any business, a 600 million dollar contract is a 600 million dollar contract. That's the kind of customer you want to keep.

Of course the corporate billionaires will defend the NSA. They are the insiders that benefit from corporate espionage. Bill Gates is a big time elite player.

Before the Obama-bashers swing in here to start the blame-transference process let's remember everything we've heard about the NSA via Snowden was put in place by the Bush Regime and the Republican party. Yes, Obama deserves his share of blame for not rescinding those NSA policies, but let's face it, the NSA was Pandora's Box and it will never be resealed.

The NSA isn't there to fight terrorism. It's a TOTAL INFORMATION AWARENESS NETWORK, there to keep the Plutocrats safely ensconced at the top of the food chain. The NSA will toss out an occasional terror plot foiled, but it's really there to serve the Plutocrats.

With regards to Obama, keep in mind he is a Republican as far as policies go. He is also an appeaser, he will let stand all the NSA policies passed by his predecessor to keep the conservatives happy. If you vote Republican, then you have no room to grouse about Obama's NSA policies. YOUR party enacted those policies.

ALEC and the Koch's were BIG supporters of those NSA policies during the previous administration. Like I said, the NSA is, for them, a Total Information Awareness network.

The NSA has been doing, what they're doing, since I can remember ... which was 1985. Reagan was the President then. I don't know how long it had been going on before my exposure, but the program had a rather mature feeling to it.

ETA: Oh yeah ... about Bill Gates: What would he have the NSA could do anything about? He's not worried about anything because he's a BILLIONAIRE. The gubment doesn't f# with billionaires. They might stomp one now and then, but they don't play around just because.

When it comes to Bill Gates, just remember the government's huge anti-trust lawsuit he and Microsoft went through accusing them of being a monopoly, that magically went away in November 2001 (it was 'settled' out of court). I'm guessing a back-room deal involving MS giving the government/NSA unfettered access via a backdoor to their OS, that we still have today.

That month (November 2001) saw a bunch of "anti-terror" laws fly through Congress that were questionable, like the "Detention, Treatment, and Trial of Certain Non-Citizens in the War Against Terrorism", and Bush's "Executive Order Authorizing Military Tribunals" Some legal organizations questioned the constitutional legality of these laws (see: Inter Arma Silent Leges: In Times of Armed Conflict, Should the Laws be Silent?, but most law makers were all to willing to suspend the Constitution over fear of being accused by conservatives of being "unpatriotic".

The NSA is just another agency the Plutocrats would love to dominate, and the "war on terror" was just the excuse they needed to get virtually any crazy unconstitutional law passed. To them it's a Total Information Awareness net, masquerading as anti-terrorism. So long as it offers up an occasional foiled bomb plot people will fool themselves into believing suspending some Constitutional rights are an evil necessary.

U can watch Bush signing the patriot act into law with Harry Reid and Peloisi by his side smiling for the cameras. I hate Bush, but the Democrats are much much worst. They have influence the RINOs to pass through their signature agenda all the time. The RINOs and Democrats are align together they just pretend that they are not on camera. But in the Republican party there is a minority fighting back typically its the libertarian and Tea Party fractions trying to fight off the RINOS or Bush Clan. I don't know what you've been smoking but Biden didn't write the Patriot Act. Wisconsin Republican Jim Sensenbrenner introduced the act, written by Viet Dinh, a Republican asst. AG under Bush.

Sensenbrenner introduced the USA PATRIOT Act to the House on October 23, 2001. He did not write the act; the primary author was Assistant Attorney General of the United States Viet Dinh. Nevertheless, Sensenbrenner has been recognized as "one of the architects of the Patriot Act."[10] (source: wiki)

What you are clearing referring to regarding Biden, and being distorted by right-wing media as an excuse to shift blame away from themselves for what the Patriot became, was Biden's 1995 Omnibus Counterterrorism Act(wiki) - which didn't come anywhere close to touching what the Bush AG did with the Patriot Act.

You have to ask yourself, if the "Patriot Act" is nothing more than the "Omnibus Counterterrorism Act of 1995", then WHY did the Republicans feel the need to REWRITE it? Why not just pass it and let it stand? The reason is there are fundamental differences. EPIC has looked long and hard at both acts. The Omnibus act was a means to get around legal jurisdictions for trying terrorism cases. The Patriot Act was a blanket surveillance act (among many other things) that allowed for complete and total spying on anything and everything.

This act was passed on the heels of the Oklahoma City bombing, making transactions with terrorists illegal. Moreover, the act sought federal jurisdiction over matters of international terrorism, foreshadowing the Patriot Act which would come 6 years later. (source)

Well I was wondering when this news will come to light, after all, remember what I been saying for a while, behind the NSA surveillance is private interest money invested into the data mining of the American citizens, NSA is been funded no only by tax payers but by private interest, that makes the NSA a corrupted, illegal and unconstitutional entity

Occurs those filthy mega rich behind the private interest are going to be outraged if anything happen to what they think is their biggest victory and power take over, to have their own privately run spying agency, for leverage, all those billions of dollars, darn crocked corrupted trash.

Ditto that. Its all just about profit and interest. Right now its mostly set on hype, as they can not do anything more with all that data then has been going on and been set for centuries, so the prime motivator being profit and wealth building. However in the long run all that data can be used to curtail the human psyche and the social hive mind complex. But that is way down the road, and none of them will be alive when that happens or would be capable of understanding any of it, so for now its who gets contracts and who has what, and all that bill, basic sales, trends, and conditioning's. To put it plainly its about the $$$.

A good example of that is how effectively the feds were at destroying the Occupy Wall Street movement. OWS protested corporate greed and the major banks, no doubt perceived as a threat by these billionaire backers of the NSA.
