Friedland received constant professional emergency medial care from the time the first police officer arrived at 9:09 p.m.
Friedland, a Hoboken lawyer, and his wife were returning to their Range Rover around 9 p.m. after shopping at the mall when they were confronted by four men. Friedland was shot in the head and his assailants took the SUV.
The first squad EMT, who arrived at the mall in her own personal vehicle, was at the scene 9:19 p.m. The squad’s ambulance, following, arrived at 9:24 p.m.
According to media reports following the release of the tape, Weber said the ambulance was too large to pass under the entrance to the mall and squad members ran a stretcher to the upper deck. In his statement, Weber notes, “At 9:31 p.m. the Millburn police at the scene moved the Millburn-Short Hills ambulance to the end of the ramp to transport Mr. Friedland to Morristown Memorial Hospital.”
Friedland died at the hospital around three hours later.
