Okay, we have all just finished discussing the most fantasmical solution to all of our problems. Everyone agrees.

Then what?

How about instead of being invited we put in a request for "Thinker" status?

Now that is interesting.

A "Thinker" tag. Non-partisan, someone who has a wider world view. A non-judgmental individual who has a clearer vision.

Maybe someone we can aspire to be like.

We all have role models here. People with whom we aspire to be like.

Now that will open up a huge can of worms....

Because if you don't get the "thinker" status...that will brand you a "nonthinker"

The thing is, I can think of plenty of solutions. But for the most part they would hard upon everybody. Not just the few. And they would take time to bring into fruition as well. People are not mentally built for that.

And then we have lawyers who pretty much just screw everything up. So, until we get rid of them and repeal redundant laws (and the stupid ones), we are stuck right where we are at.

Tweet it.
Link it.
Write your PM or congressman.
Facebook it.
Link it to an editorial to your local paper.
Post it in your personal blog.
Do a Youtube rant about it.
Mail it to MSNBC, FOX, CNN, your local news.

Perhaps. Maybe Scholar would be a better term.

I honestly believe that the more people who know the answer, the better chance of that having an effect. We just need to bring that to the fore.

Just my personal thoughts, LF8. I know many have a view of ATS, and any other forum like it as entertainment. Nothing serious. Ok. Fair enough. However, imagine pulling some minds together to actually offer solutions? So what? Right? Not quite...

You never know when the right person(s) is going to be reading this forum, and an idea from here goes viral through that individual, who introduces it to someone else, who in turn...

Never underestimate the power of a collective of minds to influence events and circumstances. Don't sell yourself, or other members here short. A mustard seed is really small, but it turns into something really big once its planted.

Fair enough.

But why come to ATS at all then? I mean, most of us have been here long enough to have discussed the ins and outs of possible solutions millions of times. We know what needs doing. We just don't have the belief to do it.

If only there were some guys who owned a website who might be able to actively do something to assist all of these like minded people...

Oh don't worry, I'm not.

I know full well what could be achieved by everyone here on ATS. It's not me selling members short.

So many times, I read, "you're just posting on an internet forum, what else are you doing?"

Perhaps, just perhaps, this could make a real difference.

I'm not so idealistic that all the problems could be solved. Nor am I so idealistic that I would agree to all of the solutions.

But a single step in ANY direction is a chance to perform something positive.

Plenty of people have the belief systen in what they are doing, and many are actually doing it. Then there are others who believe otherwise and are actively opposing them and acting upon their beliefs. And while many can agree to a problem...getting them to agree on a solution to it is...problematic to say the least.

I originally activelly supported the OWS movement. But after a couple of months, came to actively oppose them. Why? Because of what they had become.

That is the issue we are dealing with here.

Bush Sr. talked about the NWO. Obama talked about Hope and Change. Hitler talked about the Aryan race. Lenin talked about a Socialist utopia. And as always, there are those who stand against them. It will always be that way.

I would also welcome any input a mod would have to offer.

Is this a viable concept?

I have to say, beezzer, I disagree.

I can't think how this will bring anything new to the table. It's just taking an already existing idea (the idea of coming up with solutions) dressing it up in a pretty little frock and telling it it is special. It wouldn't last five minutes as just another forum.

This is an interesting idea, however, the forum would require formal direction. The biggest issue is that "think tanks" are actually centers where public policy analyses are performed, and recommendations are proposed through descriptive analytical white papers. In order to participate, contributors should have a background in statistics and economics, as these are the fields that policy analysts are required to have mastered prior to being considered for employment at any think tank. Non-partisan think tanks do exist, but most are aligned politically so that policy recommendations can be supported by a representative political group that has funding to effect real change. Simply offering up ideas to address political and economic issues will not work. As with any scientific process, the policy recommendations are subject to peer review following thorough examination and analyses of the economic implications of instituting such changes.

I honour and welcome your input.

Lord knows I've been wrong in the past.

I get PM's from members. (They see me a lot and think I know more than I actually do)

They voice their frustration on a variety of topics. They are smart people. Learned people. Educated people. People with real solutions, real ideas.

I just want them to be heard.

I am not the best poster on this site.
I am not the smartest poster on this site.

But I'm on here enough to recognize those that do contribute. Even if I don't agree with them, I secretly star and flag them. Because they are bloody brilliant!

Perhaps if we look at ATS as a lens. And the Think Tank forum as a tighter focus of the aperture.

In the end, this is just a humble idea. Agree. Disagree. It's all good.

Good idea beezer... Would be nice to have somewhere where you can see an idea to its fruition with like minded people.
