I think it's worth noting that none of the usual anti-homosexual folk have showed up to sing this guy's praises.

Obviously their beliefs aren't strong enough to be able to make a hunger strike seem intelligent; they're only strong enough to want to preach disallowance of priveleges to groups which they just so happen to not belong to.

Well. Everyone so far in the thread has said the same as I.

i'm not one to advocate gays, NOT THAT THERE'S ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT, Lol

I say a week and he'll go back to Cheetos, steak, etc.

What's worse is the fact that this is a news story.

The most he should should ever get for press coverage would be that aforementioned Darwin Award.... if he were to actually starve to death.

I think the guy is a bigoted jerk but on the other hand, it's rare that anyone on any moral side of an issue will put their life on the line for their beliefs... I sorta admire that. Maybe though he will have a starvation induced conservation with the Creator in which he gets smacked upside the head with some love for ALL of humanity.

He's a long way from starving, it's only been two weeks. But who knows, maybe he means it and by the time he realizes he's on the wrong side of history then he'll either have to give in or he may be too ashamed to start eating again, so he'll have to pass out and be forcefed.

Either way, he hopefully stays alive to attend a gay-marriage ceremony in the future once he finds out that one of his good friends is marrying the high-school fullback.

I think that there seems to be broad agreement that the man's a narcissistic nutcase.

I think that label can be accurately given to most people who share his opinion, actually.

What I don't understand is how two people of the same sex getting married affect this persons life!

Even if you were a Christian, why would you care? Wouldn't you believe that God would judge them? Doesn't it say in the bible, judge not, lest ye be judged? Didn't jesus say there was but ONE commandment...to love thy neighbor? I'm not getting the connection. If you are not a Christian, or a member of a homophobic religion then...again what's the problem. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to see two guys kissing or having sex in public you know....and...hang on...let me count the times I've see that in the last ten years...um maybe once. but probably never? lol What's the problem? Has gay marriage destroyed the sanctity of my marriage?...um...no. lol Has it taken my rights away? no. Have I lost my job because of it? no. Has it harmed my life or my families or anyone I know's life? No. Again, what's the big deal? But...If a guy wants to starve himself to death because of his beliefs...I don't think it's my business to get in his way. Or is this Suicide, slow suicide...therefore should we not intervene and give this man some counseling at the least? If he's a Christian, does that mean that he threw out all the suicide is wrong vs and kept all the homosexuality is sin verses because, like all Christians...he likes to cherry pick what he believes? Most Christians wouldn't feel that way.

The bible says God hates sin but it also says that Jesus loves everybody.

I think it's got something to do with the end of all things and life as we know it, as morality falls into the abyss. I dunno... Something like that.

I suppose I thought it was wrong too until an anthropology instructor pushed me to prove it one day and I managed to prove Marriage predated the Church, to my surprise. That kinda took the monopoly away from them, when it comes down to it, eh? Forcing marriage inside a Church is wrong .. marriage tho? Well...it's not just for the religious..so gays get it too.
