I have no time to explain anything. My bones have told me a big one is coming. Clustering. Americas. Just line them up. Migrating eastward.

This is where the USGS location format leaves much to be desired, it was actually in ARIZONA!

If they are intending to be accurate it should have maybe read;
10.38 km, 220°52′30″(SW) of Franklin, AZ 85534

or maybe
3km E of Stock and Gillespie Canyons, Peloncillo Mts, SE Arizona

I am sure the locals would have recognized these locations better than the distance from a town in another state!

Not much history within 150km circle (either State)
only 12 prior, back to 1975 on ANSS

Did you fill in a DYFI report? even if it was a "rum" its still worth reporting, that is how they build a database, they may have given you a MM1 intensity (not felt)

Importance of Your Contribution and a Caveat
It is important that you fill out a questionnaire, even if your ZIP code is already colored-in on the Community Internet Intensity Map for the earthquake. The more questionnaires that are received for your ZIP code, the more reliable will be the average intensity assigned to that ZIP code. Even if you did not feel the earthquake, your questionnaire is important: in areas of lighter shaking, the "not-felt" responses are needed to prevent the average ZIP-code intensities from being too high. earthquake.usgs.gov...

I see that Sierra Vista reported
MM3 = 115
MM2 = 24

Whoa, a 5+ in New Mexico?? (edit: I see it was in Arizona, not NM) 4+ in Utah? Shallow 6.8 in the Wallis & Futuna region? Look at all the fun I miss scouring weather satellite imagery for the invest off the FL east coast instead of checking the quake lists o.O

Fingers crossed that nothing bigger pops off today anywhere populated

That was my worry when we were going to Australia, almost two years ago.
There was that prediction for something in LA & Sydney!
And we were making stops in both!
I think there might have been some activity in the Pacific right before too.

Hopefully this flurry is over & there won't be anything new while you are here!
Can you say, OTSR? On the spot reporter???!!! Lol! Just kidding!
How long will you be there?
Have a safe trip!

Thanks WOQ, will be over in Alberta for 2 weeks then back through BC for another 2 weeks, probably pop over to Van.Island for a day or two, I'll see if I can feel those tremors they have there, looks like lately they were clustered SW and S of Nanaimo, but more is happening down Portland OR way in the last 24-48hrs

Game over folks. World is ending. Wouldn't be surprised if the next quake was a 6.66 in Christ, Arizona.

I'd say we're more screwed if one happens in the vicinity of Hell, Michigan.. But that's highly unlikely, I'd wager. Still, either Christ, AZ or Hell, MI would make for plenty of jokes regarding odd location names in succession

Perhaps it will strike in Purgatory, Colorado and then there may be Dead Women Crossing in Oklahoma. Mind, as you bid a fond farewell to the world you may be looking for Intercourse, Pennsylvania or even Knob Lick, Missouri as you wend your way to Satans Kingdom, Massachusetts, or Vermont if you prefer but I would not recommend Shag Rocks (Massachusetts) but maybe all of that is better than ending up in Boring, Oregon which is twinned with Dull in Scotland!

I wouldn't throw a laptop in a river. I don't pollute.

Sorry for that mess above. I will not be trying to type on a laptop again. Even good keyboards are not my favorite thing. It's the old clickity-clack of a typewriter that I love. Hmmm? anyways.

I still don't have time. So, I'm hoping you guys already know what I have been stating about the Americas and the patterns of earthquakes. Again this morning, Alaska is still weird. The western USA earthquake are connected in some way. I can't say where I believe the next big Americas will hit other than to suggest Central America northward. So, yes Vancouver is in the area. I wouldn't even count out Alaska again with something 8ish. If I've repeated anything that was already in the post above, I apologize. I didn't read it.

56 earthquakes since 01 April this year displayed in IRIS Earthquake Browser. All of these look very normal places and normal quake sizes. I have to say that they are not twitching my doom detection system in any way.

Some go East and Some go West, some go North and some go South - just as they normally do.

ETA: But as you say Alaska has the potential. (I have my stress calcs running again!)

Mm. Or has it???

This compares the top chart of ANSS data to a hybrd chart of Centennial data to 2001 and ANSS data from there to 2014

Apart from the fact that the 1964 quake is 8.6 in ANSS and 9.2 in the centennial which tends to smooth the jaggedness, note the scale topping 1,500 for ANSS and 11,000 for CENT/ANSS, the hybrid chart is more likely to be correct as the great bulk of the magnitudes in the hybrid data are in the same Mw unit.

If that is the case then there are ~3000 petajoules to hit the peak before the 9.2 so at rounded up to 6 PJ periodic energy that means about 500 MONTHS before it reaches the next capability of a mag 9.2. This does not mean that mag 8+ won't happen in between, but 9 is out for some time I think.

I haven't done one of these for ages, like Feb 2014 was the last one, too hard to keep up with the list when I'm busy with other stuff.
Just threw this on while waiting for the plane ....
seemed a pretty busy period ....
Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO) interactive map with detections for the period 23/06 to 30/06/2014
.
list of same
.
my LDEO page

accuracy of location is not LDEO's strong point, as they locate to the nearest 1/4 degree of Lat/Long, but its nice to get an overall picture of where things are happening ....
