International airspace applies to every aircraft, except in cases where it is a threat to another nation, or nations assets.

Military aircraft have every right to fly where they want, but they can't threaten other aircraft or ships.

You think other militaries don't shadow the US every chance they get, with no response other than escorting aircraft as they fly over, you really need to get out more.

The Iranian aircraft you're claiming double standard on were flying a flight path that was putting them directly on course to intercept an aircraft that was no threat to them, a few weeks after they attempted to shoot down another aircraft.

The Cowpens was conducting surveillance of the Liaoning at the time

Provocative much.

as an American, that was my thought too....there really needs to be some diplomacy here...military men on both sides are in a penis-waving contest, and cooler heads need to prevail.

Penis waving ? Pics or it didn't happen. Lol.

Or to rephrase it:

Off the coast of China, a Chinese ship encountered a spy ship from a country on the other side of the planet that was currently engaged in spying on China.

Several words come to mind. Treason and sedition being just two.

No double standards at all. The US Navy does not pull their ships into the DIRECT path of another ship and stop. That was an aggressive manuver on Chinas part. They also told the USS Cowpens to come to a halt...at which time they probably would have been boarded at a maximum or a sitting duck to be fired upon. The Captian did the right thing.

China is starting to feel their oats and have started doing all the things that others accuse the US of doing. The thing is, their media doesn't broadcast it.

The cooler heads were on the US side this time around. No shots were fired.

Uh? Can you explain please. How does treason and sedition come into play here?

Just asking.

But it's ok for China and Russia to follow our carrier groups around and spy on them, right?

Yes they do.

Just like the Canadian, English, Australian, Japanese, Chinese, etc, etc.

Dicks come from every country, and dick measuring contests rely on dicks being present...

This is so much ado about nothing...if there was any credible threat during this, there would be one less ship sailing the seas.

Since that didn't happen, I'm guessing that this is being blown way, way, way out of proportion.

That was in reference to toys from China, that were found to contain lead paint but maybe that was only local (meaning USA) news.

If you read the real history, you would know that the US did not win any wars single handed, and especially in WW2 it would have been the Soviets that had the biggest hand in defeating Germany....But even in WW2 before you entered you were instigating sheet between countries with your lend lease act while proclaiming yerselves neutral......
