Israeli SWAT team 6 second swoop to 'save' four-year-old

All over in six seconds: Dramatic footage of Israeli SWAT team abseiling into building to subdue mentally ill man who imprisoned his niece

This is the dramatic moment an Israeli SWAT team sprung into action after a it was a reported a mentally ill man barricaded himself in his brother's apartment with his four-year-old niece.
The unnamed 30-year-old had allegedly refused to open the door to relatives and then police who attempted to negotiate with him.
After officers could not talk the man out of the seventh floor apartment in Ashkelon, the SWAT team were called to access the building through the windows and roof.

The specialists hung precariously on ropes above the balcony of the apartment, where the man was waving to crowds outside, apparently unaware of the officers danging just feet away.
Three members of the team then swooped down in a coordinated attack with one throwing a flash grenade to stun the male.

This was like a movie.Israeli swats are surely among the best in the World.Good, nice fast and smooth action which ended well.

That's how to get it done. All done with ropes and flash grenades, all is well. Much better than the U.S. version where SWAT teams kill dogs that bark and shoot anyone who moves with lethal force.

They must be watching a different video to me.
I see:

- The team wasnt ready. Most of them were not in position and ready when the "go" happened except for the one on the left and the window breaker on the right.
- I have no dea where the "6 seconds" thing comes from. The "bang" that sets the team into action happens at 0:25 in the video, and from then on, the window breaker takes 10 seconds, the awning guys struggle with that for 10 seconds. And another stun gredade goes off at the 46 second mark, indicating activity still going on inside the building.
- For the two on the left with the awning, more training needed I think. The one on the left falls into it, and so takes about 10 seconds to clumsily extract himself and get to the balcony level. The guy to his right wasn't ready and only starts to really move after about 2 seconds, gets distracted by his fumbling buddy and ends up sideways hanging off the awning not even on the balcony level... and brings the awning with him, impeding the view and movements of the guys on each side of him.

So they're good, but lets not play them up as being superawesome infallible world champions best of everything.

Yeah this was amateur hour at best. Had the awning been a little stronger the guy on the balcony could have easily taken them out had he wanted too. Not to mention they threw the grenade behind the guy. And seeing how this man was on the balcony who was the guy on the far right attacking he threw in a grenade also.



Israel needs bigger swat team members.

The Camera man should have moved over and let a sniper do the job...Laurel and Hardy springs to mind.
Two guy jump on the canopy and obscure the other guys view while another guy arses about at another window too long...

I still think the Iranian embassy siege by the SAS was the best one I've seen despite the odd hiccup that happened.

haha I was thinking the same thing...I was in swat for 3 years and I can say if you were going in with something like this we would have lit off so many bangs thats all youd hear the first 6 seconds...sometimes with kids inside or unkknowns...we blow the bangs outside the windows instead of tossing them in. But fact is...no operation runs perfect...you gotta work with outside agencies and sometimes # just happens.

I don't believe those were grenades as there were innocent civilians around. I believe those were gun shots to be exact. Ever notice how the guy on the balcony just got blown away with one powerful shot? And another shot heard from the right window area to blow another bad guy away.

Overall, good job by the SWAT Team....that is how to get it done Call Of Duty Ghosts style...well, almost Ghost

You did read the op right? They were using flash grenades.
