Actually the left is usually out there trying to make a change in the world instead of watching TV and complaining.

It is all the right does...watch something they believe to be true and b**ch and moan about things on here and on tv, blogs or websites.

I tend to have CNN on for background noise while I'm on the computer, though since Al-Jazeera America launched I tend to switch between CNN and Al-Jazeera. MSNBC used to be tolerable until it went totally partisan, haven't watched it in years. Fox is tolerable, but I avoid it almost as vehemently as MSNBC, to avoid confirmation bias.

I think MSNBC may be able to match CNN's viewership, but they'll never beat Fox. It's not necessarily that there are more conservatives than liberals, I believe that people who identify as conservative or liberal are pretty close in number. I believe that the reason that MSNBC will never compete with Fox is that a much larger segment of the Democratic/liberal base doesn't really care about news, politics, or ideological discussions--they only care that they get to continue to live off of those that pay taxes so they reliably vote Democrat, but can't be bothered to educate themselves about any issues even from a friendly media outlet. This pretty much leaves the audience MSNBC is chasing as the liberals who have an intellectual/ideological base for their political beliefs.

A similar but opposite dynamic is at play in Fox's success. I don't think that Fox would pull it's numbers only from those who are intellectually/ideologically conservative. As much as MSNBC is crippled by such a large part of its target demographic being disinterested in discussion of today's issues, Fox is helped by so many people who are interested in what used to be called the "Culture Wars". Lots of single issue people tune in to Fox because the editorial bias on issues like gay marriage, abortion, gun rights, and other social issues confirms their own. With the exception of gun rights, I could care less about wedge issues, but Fox has got the viewership of most of the single issue voters on social issues, and I feel that is why their ratings are better than other cable news.

With all the conservative cheerleading on AM radio, Fox, ATS and other right leaning media outlets and with all the claimed supporters; I would think most of the elections would go to the GOP but that doesn't seem to be the case.

It's evident to me that most of the voters are moderate. Thinking moderates can listen to both sides and make informed choices. I would like to see the gap closed between decisive political ignorance.

the average fox viewer is over 65. therefore they are home a lot more than younger people.

also, younger people tend to get their news from the net now.

however, this just goes to show that fox IS the MAINSTREAM MEDIA!

They pay people all over the country to have little boxes hooked up to their TVs and these boxes feed a continuos flow of viewing information and habits to the data bases. My friend has one. It's actually believed to be extremely reliable. This info is how advertising $ is established for channels, programs and times.

Every time I hear about how few people watch the left wing news channels it brings this question to mind: Do Liberals/Democrats even watch any news these days? The ratings would suggest they do not. Is it possible they are watching the "evil" and "right-wing" Fox News? I consider this doubtful. They would probably implode from hatred after 5 minutes. The most likely solution (which explains the last few election results) is they don't watch news and have no grasp of current events.

You obviously don't understand what these #'s mean. Let me help.

CNN:

Primetime (Mon-Sun): 481,000 Total Viewers / 153,000 A25-54

Total Day (Mon-Sun): 335,000 Total Viewers / 100,000 A25-54

MSNBC:

Primetime (Mon-Sun): 645,000 Total Viewers / 190,000 A25-54

Total Day (Mon-Sun): 401,000 Total Viewers / 124,000 A25-54

Fox News:

Primetime (Mon-Sun): 2,011,000 total viewers / 348,000 A25-54

Total Day (Mon-Sun): 1,201,000 total viewers / 248,000 A25-54

The A25-54 means viewers aged 25-54. This data shows fox having more viewers aged 25-54 than both the others combined. So no matter what the average age of the millions watching, FOX still demolishes the other two in viewership by the younger people you say don't watch.

Actually, Fox News is one of my main sources for news. I read it online daily. As conservative as liberals think it is, it is actually one of the only sources in MSM that reports the actual news. It seems to have gotten more evident in the last 3 years that it is more accurate than other news sources in my opinion. That may account for the ratings. I am not by any means saying that it is my only news source, but I take all news reports with a grain of salt as I am one of the "show me" type of people that unless I see it with my own eyes I always look at multiple options and viewpoints prior to making a conclusion myself.

I do think that out of all the MSM outlets, Fox is one of the most honest and solid sources with the least bias in the public perception.

Lol the only "Real news" on Fox News is the little news ticker at the bottom. 99% of Fox News is pure opinion.

Ok...please pull up www.foxnews.com... and point out which stories are just opinion to me.

It looks like Foxnews has taken a been winning the battles for viewers against the other two popular cable TV "news" stations.

Competitors MSNBC and CNN have been falling sharply.

Must be the political atmosphere ?

Could this be a barometer of the Obama phenomenon ?

November Ratings: Fox News Crushes Left-Wing CNN, MSNBC

Could it be that people are much dumber than possibly expected? Could it be the majority of people in the US are brain dead Republican Slaves? Could it be that Fox just makes up whatever "news" stories it thinks its audience will buy into? Could it be Fox is tapping murder victims phones for the sheer thrill of it? Could it be Fox has the highest percentage of inaccurate and outright lies as "News" stories of any network in the US. Might it be again the the percentage of low IQ news watchers are drawn to Fox like white on rice. Pretty sad state of affairs that the worst most irresponsible and fully inaccurate News Media is the publics choice. It just shows why it was so easy for Bush to clown and pull the wool over all your eyes leading to the Deaths of Thousands of American Service Members, Trillions of Dollars and Hundreds of Thousands of innocent Iraqi Civilian Deaths. In case you had not noticed and if you watch Fox most likely you havent. Bush and his Neo-Con cohorts lied to you and the World about weapons of mass Destruction and well almost everything else as well. Why did Bush do these things? Could it be he wanted to clear his Daddys name after the First Gulf War fiasco? Thank god his Daddy took care of Business so we wouldnt have to go back under false pretenses to finish of the problem. Thank god for Fox to perpetuate the lies and the viewers continued ability to ask the tough questions. The Smugness and Hypocrisy of the Fox viewer is disgusting.

I am not suprised by this at all.

I watch Fox news usually though it is very one sided. I watch the CBS news when I want facts with little opinion and I watch the NBC news because its good to know what your enemy is thinking.

Seriously race, race, hate, race, hate, race, lady gaga, hate race blah blah is preached on NBC, my lord they never quit spewing venom or their idoltry of the stars.

In all honesty I bet if NBC hired more attractive women they would gain more followers. I hate to say it but the truth is sex sells no matter what lies you are selling.

Again the smugness and hypocrisy of Fox viewers is disgusting. Why don't you ask the average person in Iraq if everything is ok. Why don't you ask the avg person in Afganistan. Why don't you ask the Parents of the Service Members killed in Iraq. Being as your average Fox viewer asked the difficult questions leading up to the varied military interventions we are still in a quagmire over. I am sure your avg Fox viewer is more concerned with Benghazi where 4 people died vs say a War built on lies that has killed Thousands of Americans and cost us Trillions of Dollars. Maybe your avg Fox viewer would rather hold hearings on a vast conspiracy involving a "forged Birth Certificate" and dates back over 40 years ago when a Newspaper in Hawaii had a birth announcent saying Barry Soweto was born to a family living in Hawaii. As W. Bush so smartly said on board a US Navy vessel "Mission Accomplished. " Witty comeback however its a shame life is a joke for you.

Sorry for the smug reply but it's obvious in the rant for a post where the poster stands politically, thus the hatred for Fox News.

Beck says less than 10 percent of Obama Cabinet has worked in private sector

Though that statement may be false, it's certainly not a lie on Beck's part. Even your source confirms that:

it's true that Beck accurately relayed the information contained in Cembalest's chart.

Steve Doocy (Fox News): White House Political Director Patrick Gaspard once served as the "right-hand man" for Bertha Lewis, who heads up ACORN.

Doocy was only repeating what "ACORN founder Wayne Rathke" had said, and even your source says that it was an "understandable" mistake:

ACORN founder Wayne Rathke, said he misspoke when he made that claim in a blog posting.

For their part, Doocy, Beck, Hannity and others are relying on the reporting of Vadum in the American Spectator . And Vadum relied on Rathke's blog posting. So the mistake is understandable.

Are you really so daft that you don't understand difference between a mistake, and a lie?

Glenn Beck (Fox News): The Muslim Brotherhood has "openly stated they want to declare war on Israel."

Your source isn't about whether, or not, Beck lied! It's about his source:

Beck’s website pointed to a Feb. 1, 2011, item in the Jerusalem Post that had a "leading member" of the Brotherhood, Muhammad Ghannem, declaring that "the people should be prepared for war against Israel."

So some members of the Muslim Brotherhood may be calling for war. But the ones who say that don’t speak for the group; and the ones who do speak for the group, don’t say that.

It seems that you don't understand what you MIGHT read.

Bill O'Reilly: "We researched to find out if anybody on Fox News had ever said you're going to jail if you don't buy health insurance. Nobody's ever said it."

Okay, PolitiFact narrowed that down to only two possible conclusions:

So we are left to conclude that either his staff muffed its research or that O'Reilly trying to pull a fast one.

1) "his staff muffed its research": If true, that would mean HE MADE A MISTAKE, and that HE WASN'T TELLING A LIE".

2) "O'Reilly trying to pull a fast one": Your source indicates that "fast one" was in reference to Mr. O'Reilly's attempt to justify his original comment, and had absolutely nothing to do with rather, or not, that comment was a lie.

Do you really feel that Mr. O'Rielly is so Godly that he couldn't, even possibly, make a mistake? I sure as Hell don't!

Todd Starns (Fox News) "President Obama’s proclamation marking the September 11th terrorist attacks did not include any mention of God."

Yep! There's something shady about this one. I wonder which "Proclamation" more accurately reflects what Mr. Obama actually said. Can you confirm that the "Proclamation" posted on WhiteHouse.gov is, indeed, what Mr. Obama said? I can't, and won't, trust the "White House", anymore.

Steve Doocy (Fox News) "the administration sued Ohio to block early voting for military members”

The Fox News article, that you linked to, sure as Hell doesn't say that! It, actually, says something quite different: "Obama campaign sues Ohio over early voting law for military"

Doocy wasn't even mentioned.

Your second source wasn't even about Doocy, or what Fox News said. That was only about what Romney said!

There are plenty of examples of lies from Fox news, this is only the tip of the iceberg.

If so, why did you post, only, non sequiturs?

Now... let me list the excuses that will come about this.

"But they didn't know it false there for they weren't actually lying"

"They made a statement admitting a mistake so that isn't a lie"

"CNN and MSNBC lied too so there for this cancels out the lies from Fox news"

"All those sources of yours are liberal sources, Fox news never lies"

You haven't, yet, confirmed that "Fox News lies", so there's nothing to excuse.

Keep your head in the sand like an ostrich Ben.

Yeah. I know where your head is too, and it's not in the sand.

See ya?

Yep!

See ya,
Milt

That wasn't a joke. That was an observation regarding many of your past comments, and those of others that still support Mr. Obama.

Come on now we all know that any 'news organization' that does worship at the alter of the current regime from mordor isn't considered to be 'reputable'.

That is a given in the current united states of dysfunction. Ironic coming from the crowd whose mantra use to be 'speak truth' to power just carries it's water now.
