Here is my prediction.

Next year, when (projected) up to 80 million Americans lose their health insurance, Obama will step in and "bail out" the insurance companies like he did with the auto industry, thus giving us Single payer but with the "face" of insurance companies.

And I further predict that it'll be just like the Chevy Volt, self-destructing, unpopular, and too expensive.

American health insurance will be "too big to fail" and it'll be bailed out at a cost of trillions, thus proving Cloward-Piven and holding America hostage to their health care needs.

Ignore, bookmark, keep this OP and make a nice oil painting of it, it matters not.

This is my prediction.

That is one way to look at it, he's not man enough to admit he was wrong... so, I can see it going that way too.

Absolutely a "Chevy Volt" and with a jolt.

My concern is what will they call the "Cash for Clunkers" version ?

Bailout provisions are in the bill now.

The thing is that since this bill is really fascism, it essentially is single payer. The insurance companies and the government might as well be one entity as tightly regulated as the whole mechanism is. In some market places there is actually only one company offering policies to consumers on the exchanges for example.

What we're seeing in our premiums is just the tax increases that couldn't be hidden into the cost of living like actual single payer countries do. Remember, in those countries the cost of living is usually a good 30 to 40% higher in every way than it is here because they not only have higher income taxes, but they also have VAT taxes making every single thing you buy much more expensive.

If we went true single payer, it's true the lump sum premium bills might vanish, but you'd still expect to pay the same in the cost of increased taxes and price of goods across the board.

None of the past month adjustments were written into the law...Obama is playing the insurance like fools saying "30 million new customers".
What poor businessman...

Most of us here on ATS who are active in political matters understand that there was a good chance the initial failing of Obamacare was actually manufactured to move for single payer and I know for a fact, most savvy liberals here have known it all along.

We will have to cross that bridge when we come to it because most Americans will refuse to believe it anyway, just as they refused to believe how bad this legislation actually was until it went "live".

You can only do so much Beez, it's a lonely place understanding the scope of corruption you're surrounded in.

I'd like to know what they were either promised or threatened with because if they knew what was coming down on them, I can't imagine they would have been on board with it. They can't be any happier with this than anyone else in the country.

If they're wise, they'll send out notices before the elections next year.

Oh, I know it was intended to fail. There are videos of a Tides speech where it was carefully explained as a Trojan Horse.

But I can't think it was intended to collapse this quickly. We were expected to remain fat and complacent right up until they gracefully switched our tubes from fascism to full on socialism. They were supposed to draw back the curtain and show us the man behind it and we were supposed to hail Oz the Great and Powerful rather than see him for the humbug he really is.

I'm gonna throw something out there and this in no way has any real meaning or relevance other than something fun to bat around in your head but the math is reasonably sound.

The federal government spent 1 billion dollars in R&D, infrastructure, IT costs and production for the Healthcare.gov website. This is a loose number but generally accepted.

There are roughly 320 million American citizens which means, for the cost of the Healthcare.gov website, the government could have given every American 3 million dollars. That would have paid for their healthcare, their childrens healthcare and their grandchildrens healthcare.

After 3 generations, they would have the tax dollars to do it again, now, thats a healthcare plan I could get behind!

What is 1 billion divided by 320 million? I don't get 3 million. I get 3.125.

Funny...my calculator says 320 million times 3 is 960, 000, 000. So for three dollars for all 320 million we can have health care? Eta: even a cat figured that out fast...good job Domo!

Hey, 3 dollars might pay for the bullet you need after you have to suffer under Obamacare for the next decade.

Hey Beez,

A single-payer system would be awesome, but outside of the insurance companies. Can the insurance co's and go pure single-payer.

What you speak of is treacherous and bound to fail. I hope you are wrong.

Single payer, wouldn't that be great. I'd rather have a bumbling nonprofit government run insurance than a corrupt monopoly. They seem to do a good job with medicare.

Id rather somebody shoot me directly in the face but I'm sure that would cost too much for my single payer insurer, they most likely would have to apply small cuts and let me wait out death.

Oh geez Domo! I made sure to include the words, rough, generally and about mostly because I knew you were lurking somewhere lol.

It's all good in the 'hood. Better watch out for the owlbear too!

I think the saucy bunny makes a good point. He is a rabbit with a habit of that. This whole thing is such a clusterbomb.

ETA: Helious you were very classy about the math not adding up in your post. It's refreshing to see someone cop to a mistake and also be able to make light of it. You get a lot of respect points from me.
