More socialist drivel. You have Russell Brand spouting the same stuff, I guess he appeals to the hipsters and alternative types, Damon for another type, next will be a celebrity woman...
Kinda makes me think the masses are being incited to revolt so they can bring in a tightly controlled socialist system.

Already happened..the celebrity Woman that is.

Roseanne Barr has been speaking out on various 'alternative topics for a number of years now...

No, no, he said woman

So what?

What if tomorrow we take everyone's wealth away and divide it equally so that everyone gets an even share?

What happens then? You all know what will happen. Within a few weeks at most, there will be a lot of people at the bottom who will have nothing again, a larger group in the middle who will have a decent amount but not a lot, and a smaller group at the top who will have a whole lot all over again. Of course, that only happens if you let people actually *gasp* have freedom to make their own choices.

The other route assumes you give a small, select group of people (the so-called elites who tell you they are smarter than you and know better than you whether or not they actually do; keep in mind these are the same types who designed Obamacare and our public schools) all the power to tightly and strictly control every facet of your life in any real way that matters. Then no one is really free, but we are all slaves to the notion that we must be equal. The kicker is that those power elites at the top don't live like the rest of us. They live like Matt Damon, Russell Brand and all other people who are telling you that you want to sign your freedom and responsibility over to be no better off than your neighbor ... just pay no attention to real wealth and advantages of your betters who won't be humping filth like you will with absolutely no way out ... ever.

If Damon believed what he parroted, he'd be far more outspoken and critical, to the extent of near violent "civil disobedience" against Obama than he ever was against Bush.

Typical puppet.

edit to add-
To compare modern times to when the Declaration of Independence was crafted REQUIRES THE SECOND AMENDMENT be in effect.

I think its about leveling the playing field, having a government that represents the people who put them in power instead of corporate interests. Costs a billion dollars to become President these days, who can compete with that? how many favors do you have to give to raise those kinds of funds?

Paying people fair wages so they don't have to struggle and making the rich pay fair taxes. If corporations are classed as people then why shouldn't they pay the same taxes.

Instead we have the profiteers who complain the profits they made last year were down by xx%

Then you have bank bailouts where they use the money to give each other bonus', politicians selling off a nations industry, fuels and resources to their mates for profits.

Its not just as simple as giving everyone a bit of money. Needs to be massive reform at the very least.

My problem with this is what people are missing and not connecting together the many events which are all connected. He is simplifying the goals that have already been in effect. Redistribution of wealth. Yes the Al Gore plans. You know Bush also did that in a mass scale. They worked together on it. Bush did the dirty part of regime change in order to build the government they wanted to redistribute the wealth to. And what did Bush do after regime change? Nation building. Something that has never been done in history. The victor paying to rebuild the very country they destroyed. That was never done in the past. They simply plundered the spoils of riches afterwards and left the country to rebuild itself. But when you want redistribution of wealth under a world government you don't do it that way. You do it the new world order way. You remove the regime and rebuild a puppet government and then shower them with global corporation funding stolen from a well off nation.

So think twice about what he is saying and ask yourself is he just rephrasing the same thing that has been going on and making it sound like a good idea all over again? Spending trillions of dollars and robbing the rich to give to the poor. And the elite global corporations, politicians and CEOs are the Gods the Lords of the Lands and the distributors of the wealth. They decide who has to much and take it and who they should give it to. They chose where they need more sheeple with money to buy from the all mighty Global Corporations and Global Government of Politicians at the top of the Pyramid.

Matt Damon the champion of public schools and its teachers but sends his own children to private schools, that Matt Damon. And now because he rereads a Zinn speech he is to be taken seriously? I think not.

It is possible that he sends his children to private schools to try and keep them from being brainwashed into couch potatoes or from getting a watered down censored or altered version of history etc.. Of course this depends on the school he has chosen as some may be prone to pushing their own agendas as well.

What if he really is the real deal, maybe has thought about this long before reaching fame or it struck him while dealing with his fame and Hollywood's way of keeping actor's in check or, perhaps on a secret blacklist, I do not know, but now that he has celebrity status, he is using that to mobilize others, this is how I am viewing him at the moment.

When people asked him why he advocates for a great public school education when he sends his kids to private schools, he said it was because he wanted to make sure they got the same great leftist education he had in the public schools, but that public schools these days just didn't offer that like they did when he was in school. So, his kids are going to a private school that offers a leftist education.

My thoughts exactly. There is no chance of fixing these problems with another ism....

Just stand up and say no...and then what?

Be aware that greed and the missuse of power has got us where we are today.

Start been nicer to each other I say.

I am from the Boston area myself and have spent the last 20 years living up and down the west coast. I have always told my wife, also from MA, that the schools we grew up with would put most of the ones our friends in CA, OR and WA were sending their kids to the past few years. I can understand his feelings as I have a child in a Waldorf School here in the Mid West now. It follows the ideals and teaching of Rudolph Steiner and the first Waldorf School in America. I am paying for this private education but I do wish the public system was better and would have considered placing my child there if I felt the curriculum merited that. Nothing wrong with a little left leaning for Matt if that's his thing. It would be much better if schools could teach an unbiased set of truths but I do not see that happening given the politicized atmosphere of most schools I have encountered.

I want one that teaches an actual course in logic. If my kid can think analytically and logically, I may not like where he ends up in his ideology, but at least I'll feel better that he arrived there because he was able to think it out with actual reasoning and not because he's operating solely from an emotional thought process like all too many people today.

He's a huge Obama supporter. Did he say anything about all the spying or Obamacare? I'll take his advice with a grain of salt. He's more part of the problem than the solution.

Matt is right. If you just step back and look at the world for just a moment, you will see how chaotic and corrupt this world is. We need to stop conforming to whatever our governments say is right or wrong. We need to wake up and start doing what our hearts and minds say is right and stop some of this corruption in the world.

Sorry, I couldn't stomach this shill for the liberal establishment preaching about what is wrong with the world today so I went and found a transcript of Zinn' speech.

"The Problem Is Civil Disobedience"

And our topic is topsy-turvy: civil disobedience. As soon as you say the topic is civil disobedience, you are saying our problem is civil disobedience. That is not our problem.... Our problem is civil obedience. Our problem is the numbers of people all over the world who have obeyed the dictates of the leaders of their government and have gone to war, and millions have been killed because of this obedience. And our problem is that scene in All Quiet on the Western Front where the schoolboys march off dutifully in a line to war. Our problem is that people are obedient all over the world, in the face of poverty and starvation and stupidity, and war and cruelty. Our problem is that people are obedient while the jails are full of petty thieves, and all the while the grand thieves are running the country. That's our problem. We recognize this for Nazi Germany. We know that the problem there was obedience, that the people obeyed Hitler. People obeyed; that was wrong. They should have challenged, and they should have resisted; and if we were only there, we would have showed them. Even in Stalin's Russia we can understand that; people are obedient, all these herdlike people.

But America is different. That is what we've all been brought up on. From the time we are this high—and I still hear it resounding in Mr. Frankel's statement—you tick off, one, two, three, four, five lovely things about America that we don't want disturbed very much.

But if we have learned anything in the past ten years, it is that these lovely things about America were never lovely. We have been expansionist and aggressive and mean to other people from the beginning. And we've been aggressive and mean to people in this country, and we've allocated the wealth of this country in a very unjust way. We've never had justice in the courts for the poor people, for black people, for radicals. Now how can we boast that America is a very special place? It is not that special. It really isn't.

History is a weapon
