I found this simply amazing..And God said; .Psalm 150:6.... 6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD!

soundcloud.com...

Tom Waits (on Jim Wilson): "Wilson, he's always playing with time. I heard a recording recently of crickets slowed way down. It sounds like a choir, it sounds like angel music. Something sparkling, celestial with full harmony and bass parts - you wouldn't believe it. It's like a sweeping chorus of heaven, and it's just slowed down, they didn't manipulate the tape at all. So I think when Wilson slows people down, it gives you a chance to watch them moving through space. And there's something to be said for slowing down the world."

they must have audio in the background... choir?

I can hear the crickets but the additional sounds are definitely not crickets...so they must have put a choir behind it?!

Can anyone else can hear the difference of the cricket and the background audio?

Those are ALL crickets...they overlaid one track of crickets at normal speed for contrast, but all other sounds are crickets as well, dramatically slowed down.
I'm still listening to this; it's addictive.

The ratio of average lift span between a man and a cricket was used as the ratio by which they slowed down the chirp of a cricket. That is the chorus singing....a cricket chirp played at a speed matching the ratio between our life spans.

A very interesting concept. Makes for some neat results, and gives me a mind worm to play with in my daydreams.

Yes, this is a hoax. There is a choir in the background with the sound of real time crickets over top. That is not the sound of chrickets slowed down.

For those saying it is a hoax

It is extremely simple to layer both the slowed down version and the original on top of each other. Thus giving the guy who made this a much better sound.

Stop being so naive to think that this was recorded like this. It obviously had to be re-worked in a DAW. Once you have the slowed down version, you just layer the original over the top. Easy peasy.

Sounds awesome.

I am sorry you feel that way.. Why does something beautiful need to be a hoax? Isn't it nice to have something positive to wonder about? To take a break from all the negative news of the day?

Blessings!

Don't get me wrong. I'd love to have this be true, but it is just not the sound of crickets slowed down. I don't want to ruin it for others, so believe what you will.

No probs ma man!

I literally cannot stand people willing to bash something when they do not understand how it can be achieved.

It's like challenging 1+1=2 just because you cannot comprehend the value of 1

That is really interesting. Wow!

I wonder now if we speed up a choir, will they sound like crickets? lol

Here's a beautiful youtube version of this; the intro states that it is only TWO tracks of cricket sounds at different speeds.

Of course that is easy, that's not the issue. It's what is being layered that is in question.

See this if you would like to understand better:
