Finnish photographer Kai Fagerström presents unique photo series, where he captures wild animals making themselves comfortable in abandoned houses in the woods of Finland. Titled The House in the Woods, the photo series is set in cottages near Kai’s summer house, which were abandoned by their tenants after the owner of the place died in a fire. Award-winning photographer noticed how the place was slowly being reclaimed by the nature, and what started as a few snapshots, ended up being a book, published in Finnish, German, and English.

Deserted buildings are so full of contradictions,” says Kai. “I am fascinated by the way nature reclaims spaces that were, essentially, only ever on loan to humans.”

I had to share these pictures with everyone here... they're just beautiful, and i know theres lots of animial lovers like myself here who would likely be happy to see them

Heres a few of my favorites...

Enjoy!

Quite the talented photographer i must say

He seems to be quite taken with the badgers. I say he is pretty dang brave getting that close to them.

Well I would'nt really call it being "taken over".
All the photos I saw were of animals just sorta peeking around and poking their heads out of holes. (one had a dog looking at them)

I expected to see racoons wearing hats drinking out of beer cans or holding fishing poles (like you see at a souvenier stand)

Or, holding cards and playing poker. (kind of like that famous dog painting)

Or, Cooking while wearing a little racoon, mouse, badger or fox sized apron and chefs hat and holding a skillet (either animal or regular sized).

Or, sitting in a lounge chair smoking a pipe and reading the newspaper ^^any of the aforementioned critters.......

Now THAT'S taking over!
