So....Europe embraced communism as an escape from the oppressive catholic church?

hey man.. you got me. You have to ask a European... preferably an atheistic one.

when you do ask them a question for me... here goes...

why do they need the blessing of the pope about evolution?

thanks

(England ditched Catholicism when I think the pope told King Henry he couldnt have a divorce, so he was like, yo pope, im a king, get out of here with that cray, ill make my own church, nuts to you! hahaha, well thats the short version the long version is well, real loooOOOooooong.)

exactly!

the King didn't want to set anyone free it seems or spread the true word of Christ, instead he just didn't want to be a middle man no more... he got away with it for awhile, till the reformation.

Atheists blame Christianity for alot of stuff, specially the British and alot of European ones... but Christianity has been alive and well in America and the way our government is set up there has been no dark ages or wars yadda ya in the name of any religion for that matter out of America... and we have it all folks! including the church of satan and their building with the pentagram on it

narrow minded unenlightened narcissism is how atheism is viewed by most Americans... including our psychologist. But it's not a good party when you're just unbelievin' all on your own... they have to target someone ya know, and drag them in for a ground and pound.

unfortunately this usually ends up being the people in which the only language the atheist can speak, which happens to be English and hence the Christians.

oh well.. I guess the violent, controlling and suppressive Islam is safe for now? even though exactly what has been done to these now supposed atheists in Europe's past is happening to another people, the atheists don't seem to mind.

the Christian God is in the atheists way... of them lovin' on themselves indulging in the mirror all day, wondering why they have to abide by the rules of society. A fact which I am actually proud of

Islam needs a Martin Luther...

Can I ask where on earth you assembled this extraordinary collection of, um. facts? Let's start off with the fact that Communism rolled over Eastern and Central Europe at the point of a Soviet gun. Then there're the little fact that Communism does not predate the Reformation. Far from it. I suggest that you add some history books to the collection of books written by Richard Dawkins. You'll be better educated at the end of it.

thanks for watching.

and actually I am not interested in Dawkins... here is a little history for ya.

the religion known as atheism didn't have Mega-Churches before Richard Dawkins...

and historically that kind of puts this infantile philosophy on the map.

atheists have a whole fallible future before them...

You've made many claims but have yet to show any evidence of how evolution is being used in a sociopolitical sense.

It's a video about the bible. Very nice. Very dull actually. And totally pointless. Let's get back to my point that communism does not predate the Reformation. That's a rather key point. Please address it.

Very scientific from you, who claimed to believe in evolution until year ago.

You like to discuss evolution without reading anything from one of top scientists from that field. That is OK, as Neil deGrasse Tyson has said, religious people should not come to lab or try to argue science, just the same as scientist don't argue anything in Sunday school. There should not be mix of religion and science, simple as that.

I just wonder, can you please tell us who, of all scientist have you read/followed?

Do you understand that for me to argue religion, I had to read more than Bible and Qur'an? You have to have some idea about what are you arguing to make even discussion. Same goes for history, that you show huge lack of knowledge...

This turns into huge troll show, and FIY Atheism is much older then Dr. Dawkins, those so called Atheist churches are something IMHO stupid, not something I will ever attend.

Need more? Only if you're interested in trying to keep this thread going.

Your sudden lack of belief in evolution isn't based on any issue with the facts of evolution -- that evolution exists or that the theory of evolution explains the observable phenomenon of evolution. You perceive that evolution has taken our society in a direction that you don't like, but you really haven't provided any evidence that it's the result of evolution. You're going to continue to erroneously conflate atheism and evolution, despite the evidence you've been shown that there's an abundance of theists who accept evolution.

yes actual learning material usually is dull to the rebellious... there was a point I did not like to sit thru class.

Ever hear of a guy named Plato?

first emerged in Ancient Greece.[10] Plato in his The Republic described it as a state where people shared all their property, wives, and children: "The private and individual is altogether banished from life and things which are by nature private, such as eyes and ears and hands, have become common, and in some way see and hear and act in common, and all men express praise and feel joy and sorrow on the same occasions."[10] In the history of Western thought, certain elements of the idea of a society based on common ownership of property can be traced back to ancient times. Examples include the Spartacus slave revolt in Rome.[11] The 5th century Mazdak movement in Persia (Iran) has been described as "communistic" for challenging the enormous privileges of the noble classes and the clergy, criticizing the institution of private property and for striving for an egalitarian society.

I totally understand that Dawkins is one of your siants of atheism... I am sure that in the mega-church of atheism there are atleast a couple other the atheists hoist upon their shoulders.

your participation in my thread is not required... it is optional, not obligatory.

I happen to enjoy reading Dawkins works. He is articulate and eloquent and makes it easy for the layperson to understand the fundamentals of evolution, of which I firmly believe. Whether he is an Atheist is of little concern to me, the same as any other person's religion (or lack of) is of little concern.

I also happen to firmly believe in God so I do not really understand how either is mutually exclusive.

The reason he mentions pope and atheism in that question is because I posted that even Pope John Paul II said that evolution is there to stay. Reason I mentioned is that even very conservative religious organization such as Catholic Church had no problem acknowledging science. Following video is interesting....

This what we see here is more fundamentalism in religion or extremism, very similar what Taliban are/were doing in Afghanistan, by misinterpreting religion and trying to use it for every day life with misrepresenting science and knowledge.

it is the attack factor... Dawkins doesn't feel the way you do... and for this purpose I lend judgement of his character because the way that he treats people (namely 2.2 Billion Christians) and the rest of the theists on the planet. I have judged him not worthy to be a public educator or communicator.

it is for God to judge his soul...

Honestly he never had any faith in evolution and he continues to dodge questions and ignores factual evidence.
Just ignore this thread.

And yet again you ignore the point that I raised. Namely that the Reformation happened before Communism even existed. Care to address that?
