I think the only thing that is missed is what is demonstrated here, rather than shown..

As a musician: miley cyrus seems to not be taken seriously by most people interested in music under 14 (except for the team of people 35yrs old and older who are making millions off of her franchise..)

As a spokesperson to people (like myself) who don't really care about the mainstream but can't escape the photos and endless radio-play: she gets people chasing their tail in the frustration that comes from being incapable of comprehending the status and actions of these "celebrities." I'm willing to guess NO ONE who is on ATS (well i'm sure there's a couple of guilty exceptions, but generally...) actually likes her music..

but just look at how much response this photo has gotten compared to some other threads about music and artists that are actually SINCERE..
think about it.. where does the conspiracy lie?

does the masonic symbolism and subliminal message actually "hurt" you or are you replying out of the outrage that so many of these symbols are dangled in front of the faces of the general public; noticed by few, and angering the few that do..

I'd say that the attention spent and time wasted is a victory to the conspiracy by my count..

I'm still waiting for this generation's Bill Hicks/George Carlin to pop up somewhere but so many comedians and artists of this generation seem afraid of any kind of controversy, which Bill would have had a field-day with.. (listen to his bit on Jay Leno, but just substitute most of the people you see on comedy central who aren't Stephen Colbert..)

The pop-stars and celebrities run rampant without sharp people like Hicks to thin the herd..

IMO I think her music is great. Yes she is getting a little wild but so what. I did when I was young and I grew up just fine. Now I didn't have the life style that she does. But she deserves to be wild if she wants to. This is america and we should not be criticizing someone else just because we don't believe in what they are doing is right. She is not hurting anyone and she is not hurting herself either. Hopefully her family will watch out for that just like mine did for me.

Please stop criticizing her.

I really don't want to be offensive but... think about what you are asserting here. "Freedom" does NOT imply "the freedom to 'be who you are' and 'do as you want' unopposed by criticism" as it has been subtly pitched to us Americans, but if anything implies the opposite..

Americans (and world citizens as a whole) have largely lost faith in their own ability to judge what is and isn't SINCERE and hence resort to only reacting to things which appear on the obvious extremes (what is harmful and NOT harmful..) and defending the lukewarm middle-of-the-spectrum of "harmless" little girl pop-stars who "just don't deserve the criticism" even though she is NEVER going to read this thread (sadly..)

where does the obligation to defend these celebrities come from?? Have they come to represent a part of yourself that you wish was beyond criticism?? Or it is just your affection for them that you subconsciously wish was out of reach from "critical thoughts" because unless complete ignor-ance can be obtained, you can't truly enjoy the music and suspend your disbelief that the music actually MEANS anything to the artist(s) creating it...?

I don't mean to "attack" but I also don't intend to "appease".. I'm just interested in seeing it from the other point-of-view.

from my perspective: a big part of the entertainment industry is tricking the audience in putting in most of the creativity... the creative effort that goes into relating to who you WISH THEY WERE and sustaining it by making them into a model of "who you SHOULD be"..

Tupac told his story to people who already knew it. He missed out on putting forth a coherent public appeal for the cycle he was decrying by hiding his message deep in the metaphors and analogies seen in hip hop lyrics. Thus, the only real audience he left for himself was the same people he was singing about.

I don't buy "musical activists" unless they are singing to a crowd that isn't involved in that which they are being activsts for. This is known as "preaching to the choir".
