Used to be that when I was away from ATS for a couple of weeks or a month I'd check the Top topics list for the last month, last six months, last year (when I joined I looked at that list regularly for interesting and highly rated topics). Well, long story long, that list went the way of all flesh during the changeover. Will it come back? I hope so.

Anyone with knowledge of this, please post and assure me that yes, yes, it will be back! And better than ever too!

EDIT: And each forum used to have its top rated threads ever set up on a quick click. Is that feature gone too? I couldn't find it on one forum just now. If so, will it be back too, or is it gone forevermore.

If I understand you correctly, it is still there. First click on the flag.

Then click on the catagory

Scroll down for different time periods.

Oh nvm, I never scrolled all the way down. I guess what you want is longer time frames huh?

Only have 3, 5, and 10 day time periods now as far as I can tell.

Click on Archive from the top line menu, then select the month/year you'd like to browse.

It's not precisely the same as the old version, but I actually like this better. It's also not entirely perfectly for the sort, but again, I find it more useful and informative for the display than what we had before.

Thanks, but no banana. The feature I love(d) would show the Top stories for the entire history of the site, for the last year, for the last six months, etc. It was one of the best things about the site. And I remember each forum would have a list of top rated threads in the history of the forum (sorted by Stars and by number of posts). If we can get all of those back the sun would shine in my life again (although taking off these sunglasses might do the trick).

...away from ATS for a couple of weeks or a month...

There's your problem! You should NOT leave ATS for such long periods of time.

If you come ( read the threads/news/stories ) everyday, you will not miss on anything... That's what I do now... lol

Using forums allows people to see a greater diversity of stories. A good analogy would involve the recent youtube debacle.

Nothing to do with the questions I'm asking, but thanks for the input.

Giving this a bump, as the question hasn't been answered and as I realize, after posting the thread, how useful those lists were. Highest rated (flags and/or number of comments) threads of all time, have to have that somewhere. Each forum's highest rated, maybe essential. I kept an off-site record of some of the best longish threads, and sometimes dig into them when wanting something to read. Thanks to anyone who can find out if there is talk of getting this code linked up again.
