I don't disagree with you here in all honesty. In fact I think we just got off on the wrong foot, whereas I just wanted you to admit the blame where blame was due on this current ACA.

I think we need revolution, I'm all for it. I don't think real change will happen without it. It doesn't have to be an ARMED revolution though unless forced upon us. I truly, down to the depths of my soul believe that if everyone really understood what is and has been happening, and where we are going.. We would see a much more united nation, and with that, we could see some amazing things happen.

Don't put words in my mouth, you can make a much more compelling point by simply quoting that exact radical language that I use.

Umm.. is 1981 a prequel to 1984?

Ok, you got me on that one, typo

LOL

However you do appear to want to see people "uncomfortable" "rioting" and generally miserable from what I can tell.

That to me is heartless.

The ACA is actually as of today leaving more people uninsured that before it was passed. That and the fact that "comfortable" people will have severe financial hardship trying to pay the premiums makes me hurt for them.

It also tells me that we need to band together as a country and vote every single incumbent out of office and demand they slap term limits of 2 terms on everyone, with no retirement benefits after 2 terms, returning us to a citizen government. I feel it should be done using the ballot not rioting, not by inflicting pain (physical or financial or emotional) on innocent people.

They are not required to change a damn thing this year...they are doing this for their own gain...the ACA isn't forcing them to do it.

Oh? Perhaps the plans weren't up to snuff with the ACA rules and that was why they were canceled? You know things like offering OBGYN maternity care insurance to single males is awfully important and we can't have plans that don't cover it now, can we? Statements like you just made are what got Obama caught in a liar's web when he loudly declared "If you like your current insurance, you can keep it." (and was thankfully videotaped numerous times saying it, or else the sheep would simply contentedly bleat along with his current claim that he never said that.)

And plans like those should be grandfathered in...that is unless the insurance company itself or the employer has decided to CUT benefits or drastically raise cost on this particular plan since March 2010.

The thing is that the insurance companies weren't required to keep these grandfathered plans...nothing Obama can do about that. Everyone assumed the insurance companies would not force millions out of grandfathered plans that have been making them money, that can cover less and make them more profit. But that is exactly what they are doing.

Obama or the ACA aren't requiring them to do this...they are doing this on their own.

So yes, this guys work is lying their ass off to them if they are blaming the ACA.

All of the employers that I have worked for (not "crappy employers") usually change their employees health plan options every few years.... to either save the company money or to offer better benefits to their employees. I have seen it happen with most of them on a yearly basis... so to assume that most of them will be grandfathered in is pure ignorance. Now people paying their own insurance for themselves or their families outside of employer sponsored plans would be much more likely to be grandfathered in. When males being forced to pay for maternity care or people who are no longer children being forced to pay for pediatric care to the tune of much higher premiums( just to name a few of the 10 essential benefits) and deductibles going up into the thousands all across the board is factored it give people the right to be angry. Employers have a right to look out for their bottom line... otherwise they would have to let their employees go.. don't be mad at the employers.. be lucky you even have some form of health insurance. I would be interested to know if you have signed up for the ACA? Or are you just a slightly hypocritical poster here who is getting employer funded healthcare (even though yours is bound to change) and then trying to stomp on others who are rightfully complaining about theirs?

The only real solution available to We The People is to not purchase these new insurance plans, and flat out refuse to pay the federal penalty.

YEAH THAT! You said it!

I'm seriously spooked .... I had to shop around to find doctors that are capable of helping me in my health situation. I had to go through a few clunkers. If we get hit with this and have to go with Obamacare, not only will the cost be through the roof (and we can't afford it), but also I'll lose the doctors that I REALLY need.

Obamacare is evil. Pure evil. And DEADLY.

Stop right there.. Even Obama himself admitted that there were things snuck into Obamacare that would break his promise. In 2010 the dems voted against allowing you to keep your insurance. And just recently sebilius admitted under testimony that the rules covering grandfathering were so tight that a $5 increase in your policies price nullified the grandfathering.

Well I must be the luckiest guy in America...because lo and behold...my policy has been grandfathered in. Also, I'm doubly lucky because I can get a much better plan than my grandfathered plan at the about the same price ($75/month more)...and I already have a great plan.

So yes, plans are being grandfathered...and your $5 increase is misleading...because it is a $5 increase in COPAYS....not premiums. If you know anything about insurance policies...a $5 increase in a copay (which are usually 10-30 dollars) is a HUGE increase.

Enough with your twisted BS and lies.

I can't discuss this with you anymore, not because I think you're wrong, because what you say is pretty much what I'm saying. I can't discuss this with you anymore because you refuse to see me as a person, only as a monster. You refuse to see that I am saying that I am not happy that suffering is happen, but happy for the political fallout that will occur from such suffering.

Good day

You must not be paying attention to the news. ABC NBC CBS CNN MSNBC don't count because the CEO's of those networks have either a brother, sister, or spouse working directly for Obama, and so their news can not be trusted.

Check out other sources. However, even the Obama run network news people are saying that people are losing their coverage, losing their jobs (full time jobs converted to part time), and are not being able to keep their healthcare plans by the millions...... and even the Obama sycophantic media admits Obama knew this in 2010.

You are very lucky. Yours is definitely not the experience of the majority of citizens of this country.

You can call me and Eloina liars but it is Obama who is outright lying to the country and has been for the past 3 years to bamboozle people into voting for him and his ilk.

Is spreading the costs of maternity care among everyone really such a terrible thing? Don't we all pay for education regardless of the ages of our children or if we even have children at all. We do these things for the common good.

So we should be filled with gratitude that we have any insurance at all? Why should healthcare be tied to employment? Why shouldn't we be upset that we can't move beyond our broken healthcare system and adopt a single-payer system like every other single civilized nation on the planet? Maybe you should be angry that we had to settle for a half-step?

You also point out that employers regularly change their plans. Sometimes this is because they negotiate a rate, sometimes it's because they are trying to save money and cut your coverage (where the hell is the choice in that?) and still other times it's because insurance companies regularly consolidate, discontinue and create new plans. Is it not possible that at least *some* of these cancellation notices are more about showmanship? My company changed plans this past year, I got a letter and some forms offering me a selection from two plans. What if they framed it differently and sent me a letter that said they were cancelling my old plan and I had to go to their website to pick a new one? It's effectively the same thing.

They can keep their old plans, which will be grandfathered in, or they can get new ones that comply with the new standards. Nothing is stopping them from doing either of those things.

If a company decides to drop your health insurance, they are doing it to pocket the money and blame the ACA...and you know what...most people are stupid enough to fall for that line (obviously).

When males being forced to pay for maternity care or people who are no longer children being forced to pay for pediatric care to the tune of much higher premiums( just to name a few of the 10 essential benefits) and deductibles going up into the thousands all across the board is factored it give people the right to be angry.

Newsflash, that is how insurance works. You don't pay for your own services...you pay your premiums to cover other peoples services.

A male pays premiums to cover a females maternity care...and a female pays premiums to cover a males prostate exam/treatment/surgery.

THAT IS HOW IT WORKS. I'm so sick of people using this idiotic argument and thinking they are making a great point.

I would be interested to know if you have signed up for the ACA? Or are you just a slightly hypocritical poster here who is getting employer funded healthcare (even though yours is bound to change) and then trying to stomp on others who are rightfully complaining about theirs?

I currently buy my own insurance, and individual family policy that has a maternity rider on it. I pay about 15k a year for my policy...it is a good policy. I will be switching over to one of the plans offered in the exchange. It will cost me about 75-100 dollars more a month...but I will get so many more benefits it is unbelievable. It is a Platinum plan...I have zero dollar deductible and 100% co-insurance...all I have is co-pays for everything. Even for a major surgery...my co-pay will be $150.

So yes, I will be "signing up for the ACA"...even though that is a completely non-sense statement since everyone will be "signed up for the ACA"...even if I stayed with my grandfathered plan...I would be "signed up for the ACA".

Yes, people's insurance is being cancelled because the insurance companies are making that decision...not being forced to do it.

This is why we needed a public option...but you know...Fox News cried "socialism" and got all the gullible people to get their panties in a wad and be scared of "socialism".

Obama run network news? Don't even get me started on the myth of the "Liberal MSM" with these unsubstantiated claims. Maybe you should fact check the sources that would have you believing that the media has some great inherent liberal bias. There is a certain degree of establishment bias for any network when it comes to reporting on the government because they are hand fed a lot of information by the establishment. Remember the lack of serious questioning of the Bush administration over the war in Iraq? It rarely has anything to do with deliberate bias stemming from nepotism..although, there was John Prescott Ellis calling that 2000 election for his cousin George on Fox. Please enlighten us with your short list of unbiased media outlets?

So some plans are being grandfathered so we can ignore the rest. Why? Because you and some others DID get lucky?

If you can't afford $5 you shouldn't be here at ATS wasting time and instead be looking for a new job. For many the copays are going up much more than $5 under Obamacare.

Everything is going up... Unless you want to buy a $14,800 policy. And this cost went up $300 since I last looked it up 2 weeks ago. You see, I looked myself up out of curiosity, and $14,800 is what it would cost for me and my husband if I had no work insurance to get close to what I have now. The only difference is that the deductible will be higher under Obamacare. Specialists wil be $40 under obamacare vs $15. Prescriptions will be $8, $45 and $90 under obamacare compared to my $3 $12 and $28. Etc... So the best Obamacare plan I can get is CRAP!!!!

Although for $10,000 I could get a $12,500 family deductible with 20% co insurance. Along with paying a 20% coinsurance after the $6,750 deductible is met for Dr visits after the first 3. Specialists are at 20%

Soo a $5 increase in copay is nothing like what I just mentioned above. Did you just read what I typed? A $6,750 deductible being applied to MD visits? And after that a 20% coinsurance? Add the deductible and $10,000 a year cost, and this is $16,750 ($22,500 family) in costs before they will even pay 80%! See the doctor more than 3 times and none of those visits will be covered until you hit $6,750. (Edit - Didn't realize previously that there are family deductibles vs individual.)

Now you were talking about the folks getting these letters being the insurance company's fault. Well, I am still waiting for a counter to my saying HOGWASH!

Now a GREAT GREAT big question. Since my copay for a specialist visit would change from $15 to $40 under the best $14,800 Obamacare policy even, can this Obamacare plan now be nullified?
