Justin Bieber. Why so much hatred?

I saw Bieber on t.v a few years ago performing Let it Be on piano, (New years eve gig)
-was actually pretty damn good.
-But other than that I haven't listened to his music. Pretty hard to get away from the press that he receives though, both good and bad.

What I don't understand is the outright hatred people have for this young guy.
Is it justified? Is it a "fad" to hate him? Is it jealousy?

If I don't hate the Biebs, does that make me somehow inferior to cool folks?

It's not as though people just disapprove of him,
People Hate him.

Do people have justification for this behavior?

The only part where I disagree with what you said is where you mentioned he's from Canada... There's nothing wrong with canadians as a whole, they've brought us many comedians who are worth their weight in gold! But with each of the good ones, they let slip some rotten apples such as bieber.

Infamy is still fame... He is a basic social experiment. Prop up an unlikeable standalone boyband with computer engineered songs--- then watch as everyone who dislikes him in turn promotes his brand.

It's pretty brilliant, and it has worked.
I follow the motto that if you don't like it, the first steps should always be avoid & ignore ... Not race to the internet to find and discuss with everyone which pop star you dislike. as i've said, it only drops more money into their pocket.

People say he will probably be dead soon bacause of his lifestyle, though I can find nothing that states that he does hard drugs..
So ...what... is he gonna drown in his own money? Get sexed to death by gorgeous women?

Anyhoo, maybe all the hate is just because parents are getting fed up with the next teenage super star, that can't behave like they expect him to? Not that I care how he behaves, but we all know that kids are going to emulate him.

I'm just thankful I don't have teenage girls. I would be throwing radios out into the yard in the rain.

In all reality, for a singer, he doesnt "sing" as much as he autotunes... His voice before he hit puberty was obnoxious as hell, but now its at least a bit better. He tries to play the "gangster" but the facade is obvious. People attempting to be someone they honestly arent annoys me, but those are just my opinions.

Edit: I've got a 2 month old little girl, and my wife plays bieber for her to calm her down.. When she told me that, I about died laughing, because of murphy's law. I dislike bieber, so my kids will love him

Sure I'm a bit jealous but I'm jealous for his money and his good looks. His personality sucks I have no desire to be a huge douche.

LOL I don't hate him, because I don't listen to him, follow him, or care what he does. I just happen to hear about him and the brothel, because I was in the lab, and it was on sports radio. Not sure what he has to do with sports, but that's what I heard.

I can only speculate as to why the hate.

Oh that's easy..

He's talented,
He's got good looks,
He's more accomplished than us (yes it's true deal with that as you may)
He's Canadian
He gives more money to charities than either you or I
He's respected in the music world
He has never done wrong to me or anyone I know,
He doesn't do hard drugs (yup people don't know what a "bad boy" is in this day and age)
I could go on
