He has spoken. Pack up the rovers and probes, it's time to go home.

You know, There could be fossils on Mars. The Rovers have yet to dig more than a few inches there. We need to send something else there that can dig deeper, or eventually humans, so we can then properly excavate certain areas of interest.

So think about what you're suggesting next time. Open your mind. ~$heopleNation

Ohh the Irony of it all .. how quaint !

it sees something out of the ordinary then stops working ?

First of all, a rock like many other rocks is not something out of the ordinary, it's precisely the opposite.

Second, the photo was taken in 2006 (in January 19, if my calculations are right), so it wasn't a case of seeing something and then stopping, as the stopping happened years later.

but then if it is a pile of rocks stacked together then it isn't natural is it and if its a rock with many holes that look like a stack of rocks then there something wrong with that picture too..

What's wrong with the picture?

goes to the Question of the Monolith on Phobos to which BUZZ ALDRIN has Mentioned! Who put it there Who Put it there We didn't Put it There God Put it there well something like that in that Line of words he has said.. and this si comming from a Employee of NASA dont for get he Old and has nothing to Loose..
like Mitchell too.. Cooper..and Armstrong's Hidden Layer Speech Etc.. Ya think They Know something the Public Doesn't...

Why do you say that, because he said there's a rock in one of the moons of Mars (although he said "the moon of Mars, as if it had only one)?

Maybe we have been there already. Buzz said something about us returning.

that kind of sounds like some power drunk corrupt arm of government that wants zero accountability under the pretext of "dignified silence" befitting the prominence of the office.

smacks of delusions of grandeur if you ask me

That was the price for both rovers, including the extension of the missions for more 6 years than expected.

ck. Mars sucks. We need to look outside our system at exoplanets. If anything was on mars its dead now or bacterial viruses. Mars is a waste of time and energy.

I for one would be thrilled if we found bacteria or viruses on Mars and they were not anything we inadvertently brought from Earth. If you want to explore exoplanets then having some examples of extraterrestrial life closer to home (ie: Mars, Europa, Enceladus, Titan) would be very helpful.

My field of interest is exoplanets (tuned into the live conference here right now: connect.arc.nasa.gov...) however astrobiology is a big thing and the first confirmed alien microbe, virus, or bacteria will be big news in the science world, even if it is not very interesting to you or the average person looking for little gray men.

Buzz Aldrin was talking about the Russian Phobos probe. He was using the mystery of it all to drum up interest in planetary science and increasing funding to it. Which is admirable.

Here's a question: Would any of you support increasing the space science budget to 1960s levels? 1990s levels? 00s levels?

"...the "hut" (80 pixels wide) measures some 32 centimetres."

Kewl... itty bitty Hobbits!!!

All joking aside, who says beings on Mars would be human-sized anyway? It's further away from the sun. It has a different magnetic field and atmosphere. Indeed, knowing that some people speculate that our dinosaurs-of-old were HUGE due to vastly different conditions on Earth-- just spurs my imagination to think outside of the box here, such that a 32 cm "hut" does not throw ANY possibilities under the proverbial bus at this point-- for me anyway.

If this hasn't already been done in this or the other thread...

-Middle left rock, scaled, darkened to match upper rock lighting, and placed beside it.
-Upper rock, scaled, lightened to match middle left rock lighting, and placed beside it.

Appears that the upper rock is textured the same as the middle left lava rock. Especially in the side by side comparison of the middle left rock.

Why are people calling this a fake? A few posts have links to the original NASA photos.
I'm pretty sure it's just a volcanic rock but it sure does take on an appearance of a bush! Looking on the top right it looks almost like a small branch with a ball (or berry) sticking up!

You're right. Could be a Martian pygmy house. Or it could be a creepy crawlie condo - maybe miniature opportunistic creepy-crawlies live in the lava rock hollows. OR - the rock could be the actual life-form! ...The possibilities are endless.

It's a bush! Bushes don't grow on Mars? Then it's a rock. See how it's just like the other rocks, just a lot smaller, and scattered, as if someone collected those rocks together to make a hut. But they didn't.
