If you've seen both, which do you prefer and why?

I prefer "GR" because it focuses less on the stars and more on the race.

I would most certainly say the Cannonball Run because of the stars in it...that's what made it so entertaining...Dare I say I enjoyed the Cannonball Run 2...

To be fair the Gumball Rally has it share of fine acting but I guess with Smokey and The Bandit, The End and a few other movies Burt Reynolds was in along with Dom Deluise you simply can't go wrong. I would say also that the Cannonball Run has a few more memorable jokes in it or sayings..Jamie Far as the sheik was great. Dean Martin and Sammy Davis worked great together...but just my opinion.

I would go with Gumball Rally, just because it was first. I think that was also Gary Busey's first movie long before he crashed and burned (pun intended). I've always wanted that Camero he drove.

But I did like them both.

Both. They are both classics of a more innocent time when speeding and going fast was unique and coupled with the gags and pratfalls it was entertaining. Now the action needs to be sensational to say anything of it.

Oddly enough, I think Gary's teeth grew over time...

Evening,

Gumball Rally.
I still appreciate the first Cannonball Run and always enjoy watching that Lamborghini smoke the state troopers in the opening credits but theres just something about Gumball that just seems more like a "real" movie than a Smokey & The Bandit reunion.
(Busey always cracked me up in that one!)
That original departure through NYC at dawn.
That classic Cobra vs Ferrari deul.
The "Gumball Gun".
That insane motorcycle rider.
(I'm giggling just thinkin' about it!)
It even had round female parts.
My favorite line from that movie:

"55mph? Just fast enough to kill you but just slow enough to make you think you're safe."

What's not to love?

I love that line where the cop is screaming at the sky, "Why me Lord!? Why me?"

And the other cop walking away mutters, "Because you're an assholle, Roscoe."

Poor Raul Julia. He was so typecast.

Greetings,

Forgive me but I couldn't resist!

Gumball Rally: Camaro Scenes Only

www.youtube.com...

In the clips opening moments, they show the Camaro speeding along an alpine road.
Into that first corner, there is the briefest of moments when the Camaro almost loses traction as the driver accelerates out of the corner.
I always wondered what that stunt driver was thinking at that moment.

I took a specialized driving course in the 80's. You'd be amazed at how well rubber sticks to the road. Your butt says "oh no" but the vehicle defies that feeling.

I was scared poopless.

I liked Cannonball Run 1 & 2 much better than Gumball Rally. I much preferred the comedy and the cast.
