Story is developing at this time.

Hopefully just another false alarm.

Great way to justify even more increased security in Gotham's subway

Cameras, mic recordings, metal detectors.

Heck why not put a US marshal on each train?

Still yet, you know they're eventually gonna pull an inside job 'terror' attack in MTA, maybe grand central or time square.

At least they found it. Who has access to a grenade unless in the military or a terrorist. Not large scale but certainly lots of local damage if that were to go off. They should evacuate more since it may not be the only one. Those trains are a bummer to take, and not at all secure.

Leah Jane Kugler said via Twitter: “Was wondering why a million cops kicked my out of the subway until I read on twitter that there is a grenade down there. PERFECT.”

At least they take things seriously.

Those things should just be banned. They are mistaken for something important all the time! It's always a chinese lantern!

What kind of chinese lantern "looks like" a grenade?

Better yet whats it doing on the tracks in the subway?

ETA:Oh, I get it, lol...

So....a chinese lantern looks like a gernade. Jolly Ranchers look like meth. A wallet looks like a gun. A cellphone looks like a gun. An empty hand, looks like a gun. A bag of weed looks like a gun. I am sensing a pattern here. Perhaps, instead of better training and smarter officers, WE THE CITIZENS OF NYC, should simply ask the NYPD to conduct bi-annual EYE EXAMS OF ALL NYPD MEMBERS? Apparently, they have the collective eyesight of MR. MAGOO!
