So just how is Sen. Paul's lawsuit going? I couldn't find any updates on it beyond people saying that it was more or less a scam to solicit fundraising funds - which wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. Rand is a career politician and will do whatever is necessary to push for a 2016 presidential bid, including dupe his followers.

The ACLU and EFF's lawsuits (in NY and CA respectfully) are moving forward though.

Justice Department lawyers argued for the case to be delayed because the intelligence community is busily working through classified material related to surveillance to see what can be made public. Some of that declassified material could be pertinent to the case, but it is a time-consuming effort, they said.

But at the US district court in New York, judge William Pauley dismissed the request and set a schedule, with motions to be filed by 26 August and oral arguments to begin on 1 November.

So, it looks like Obama and Holder have requested longer time to figure out what can be declassified, and what can't, but the judge said no to them, and the EFF/ACLU cases are moving forward.

Where's Paul's case again?

And I do remember the vote a few months ago to amend the patriot act, but the vote on that was only in the house and was split based on who's funded by the military industrial defense industry, and not party lines.

Again though - why 12 years after the fact? Those of us who were paying attention back then knew that this has been happening for a long time.

Freedom of speech. They can put it up and express themselves if they wish.
HOWEVER, when people start up with the Bush=Hitler or Obama=Hitler stuff,
it just makes me think they are extreme and so I don't really listen.
Hitler was Hitler. No American POTUS has come close to his level of insanity or evil.

I agree that propaganda has been in use by both parties and yes I was watching the daily show when she smirked last week, but didn't catch the "outcome engineer" bit. It was more like she was smirking at the audacity of the question over her answer, but I digress.

This country does need laws that restrict the use of propaganda, to save it's population from their own stupidity, but when we had those, they were overturned by FOX news saying that those laws infringed on their 1st amendment right to have freedom of speech. So now we have a free-for-all on truth-bending politics and corporations, and an incredibly polarized population.

Interesting because before he was elected the first time, I told everyone how much I thought he reminded me of Hitler. He knows how to speak very very well, and everything he said sounded right out of the mouth of Hitler, and he came off way too much like a dictator. I told this to every single person who asked me why I didn't like him. It was my biggest issue with him - before I even knew what he stood for, I didn't like him. I didn't trust him from the very beginning. And, anyone who promises that much is either lying or foolish or both.

There's all kinds of wild billboards here in Indiana. There's a "Hell is Hot" and a "Thank your mother for not murdering you" one on I-65 on my commute to work.

I'm not an Obama fan but comparing Obama to a man that killed SIX MILLION Jews seems very stupid.

And I doubt if this type of hyperbole BS is going to win anyone over to the conservative cause; infact it makes conservatives look ignorant, extreme and to be avoided.

Most Americans are moderates and can see thru this BS.

All I see is left pointing to right, right pointing to left. How about you wake up and realize that the independents of America make of the majority of the opinion and the majority of us didnt approve of Bush and are not approving of Obama (atleast now that the "honeymoon" of the first black president has faded).

That you have no protest at the present time is irrelevant. They don't care if you don't like it. It's helpful to them if you do because they get free activism out of the deal. They don't have to pay as many people to roam the internet stifling opposition.

The vast majority of people are sheep. Almost 95% by most sociology studies, so for most people to claim that they're independent, they're just doing so because - yes - they're upset at the current government affairs, but also attempting to rebrand themselves in a way that shows that they are "independent thinkers". It's funny that you say that they're independent, but where are all of the (I) congressmen and candidates? If you think that these independents don't shift one way or the other on the political spectrum, then I have a bridge that you might be interested in.

If the honeymoon was over after his first 4 years, then why was he re-elected? Oh that's right because the choice was between him and "Mr. 47% of you are worthless, and imma gunna repeal Obamacare" - the public voted and Obama was re-elected based on his platform. The public knew that he failed on some of his promises from the 2008 campaign, but he still did a good enough job on other things that they voted him back into office.

Yes i'm spiteful, and pissed off at the GOP in this nation and how they've done everything in their power to block bills that would have benefited this nation. See the above graphic on our healthcare costs. That's absurd, and we need a single-payer system with private to supplement for those who want to pay for it (much like the UK). We need education reform that doesn't leave people graduating college with $40,000 - $300,000 in loans so that our young workforce can have disposable income during their 20's and put money back into the economy. We need infrastructure bills passed because the outstanding repairs currently add up to $3.4 trillion dollars needed to fix our roads, bridges and everything else. The irony is that spending that money would put poor/lower-middle class folks back to work and that's the class that's currently hurting the most economically. It would pay off debts, provide income for small local businesses, increase tax revenue at the local, state and federal levels, as well as improve the overall economy. Yet the GOP has blocked every single effing jobs bill that has been presented over the last 5 years just to spite Obama and the Democrats. Their goal for his entire presidency has been to spite him and make him appear to be a fool.

They're the ones that chose to hold the government hostage over ObamaCare for the last 2 weeks - to make a symbolic stand. And you think that ObamaCare is expensive, well shutting everything down is a lot more expensive, but y'all can't fathom that. S&P figures there's been a $22 billion dollar loss just for the shutdown, and that doesn't include the stagnation in GDP growth due to the loss of confidence in the dollar.

You're still stuck in the trap of "ZOMG BIG NUMBERS, FEAR FEAR FEAR!!!" because your brains haven't fully developed multi-dimensional abstract thinking to realize that micro-economics and macro-economics are different things. Yup, if YOU have a dollar, you can only spend it once, but what happens to that dollar on a macro-economic level? That dollar is then paid to another business, or paid out in payroll, which gives it to another entity to spend again - thus on a macro level a dollar can = multiple dollars as long as it says in a liquid form and keeps moving throughout the economy, and isn't slammed into some savings account/top 1%'s pocket.

TL: DR - Obama's fault, again.

How about this. If you are so well versed in economics and have the ability to process abstract thoughts, why are you under the impression that by nudging a mathematical fact, that we can never pay our debt back, just long enough and far enough for your dear president to get out of office... it will then (somehow) become the fault and problem of who ever else is elected...like that somehow that fixes it all....

The Dollar is looking less attractive than ever and basically, we only ever had other peoples faith in our toilet paper money. In the past Nations and private investors, To protect their already insane investments into our currency (which we forced them into) kept investing in our debt. NOW, they just want to cut their losses...and if they can take a sliver of our industrial base or infrastructure then so be it. We are not needed anymore.

Think of this as being similar to when Europe lost its colonies and with them their tribute. Time to change the way we live. We cant live above our means. Not without borrowing on future money...but wait...! Cant do that anymore....

This isnt business as usual and your 80´s era understanding of the worlds economy is outdated...and slightly retarded, though you think it clever.

We cant spend untold trillions on a thing....because we dont have any money. We cant just keep printing more into infinity...because that is reckless. Act like an adult and realize this.

That's true of pretty much every politician of the last fifty years. Hitler, Stalin and Mussolini wrote the modern political PR and spin playbook, from kissing babies and pressing the flesh to rhetorical flourishes and visual presentation.

Marxism and fascism are not just labels, they are coherent ideologies with distinguishing features. Calling Obama a Marxist or GW Bush a fascist is easy. Proving it is impossible.
