Occasionally American politicians seem to like to scare voters off a candidate, by accusing him to have the intention to turn America into socialist Europe, with Europe being more Germany, maybe France and Scandinavia and not so much say Spain or Italy.

Do Americans know what live in those countries is like? I was under the assumption with the information one gets over the internet that isnt such a scary prospect.

After 200+ years of being told that you're the BEST in the world, despite all the evidence against it, that mentality is pervasive.

So anything other than how America is right now, scares the HELL out of Americans. A product of the war on terror and the middle class.

Social engineering at it's finest.

What makes America unique is the bill of rights.

There's nothing else like it in the world.

Nearly every other industrialized nation has a bill of rights.

Are you seriously suggesting we're the only ones?

We'll if you think really deep about it it has been honored, that's just our line in the sand. Those who don't agree with it are free to leave at any time.

Yes, there are some that wish to destroy it, however those people are also sociopaths.

I have read yours and it is quite shocking.

What's contained in yours that is not found in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms?

Not that it matters, considering neither of our government actually respect them either way, but I'm curious to know as to why you think the US' is better.

What do you mean by 'not like ours'? Every bill of rights I've ever seen is a lot like ours, namely, a listing of rights as proclaimed in a constitution.

The UN has one, England had a few bills of rights before America was even a nation. Lots of countries have bills of rights similiar to ours, some even grant more rights than ours.

Our bill of rights doesn't make us any more unique than the waters off our coasts or the clouds in our skies.

The right to bear arms for one. But oh my I am looking at it now, reads as a legal contract, not a line in the sand.

So why isn't the US the best country in the world then ?

After all we spend more money on EVERYTHING than our northern neighbors, and Europeans countries.

So if it is a matter of money as the 'social engineers' purport it to be

Why is America so 'God aweful' ?

I have spent quite a bit of time in socialist European countries on business.

My over all impression was that the citizens that lived in those countries were by and large HAPPY, especially in the Scandinavian countries. I always enjoyed my times there as the people were friendly and loving.

They also seemed to have plenty of discretionary income which was the reason I was there on business. And after business hours they were ready to party. Especially in Sweden.

I thinks it's because of what the OP alluded to. TPTB are trying to force us to become more the the EU (by any means possible.)

So give me your guns.

That says it all.

We should be the richest, smartest, most sucessfull, safest countries in the world.

The reality after government looking out of us?

Is we are anything but.

What they forget is there is a reason our ancestors kick Europe to the curb.

For a good reason.

For the same reason that NO country is the best in the world. That sort of narcissism leads to the kind of mentality that allows you to think so.

After all we spend more money on EVERYTHING than our northern neighbors, and Europeans countries.

Yes you do, and the only thing you are actually #1 is the military. America trails dozens of countries in every other vital statistic from Education to Middle Class Income etc..

The amount of money you spend isn't a indicator of how good your country is.

So if it is a matter of money as the 'social engineers' purport it to be

I don't know of any 'social engineers' who claim this to be the case.

Why is America so 'God aweful' ?

I think American leadership is God awful and the American people far too busy with who is winning the X Factor to notice they are being duped. Your country isn't awful, your apathetic way of getting things done is though.

I'm glad we live in a country that doesn't support the right to bear arms. We as Canadians see no need for this, if we had, the rights would be there.

Precisely it's great as they are quelled already and no opposition. They're form of opposition is vandalism and throwing rocks and sticks.

The embodiment of the US is a spoiled rotten child with an ego problem. Like someone raised a kid, and only tended to their ego & stoked greed instead of preparing them for reality. Imagine what kind of person would come from this kind of rearing: (edit: that's sort of a trick request, you only need to look at who's in charge)

"You are the prettiest, most attractive there is!"

"You are smarter than them."

"You are of privilege, you can do no wrong."

"This family's morals are far superior than our lowly neighbors'."

"Everyone else is an ignorant fool, this family is always right."

"we can have and do what we want, it is our right as who we are."

"Money fixes everything."

Now teach that to a populace. Makes for a really disgusting society who thinks their feces doesn't reek. That's essentially America when we look at the rest of the world. Young, rich (well, formerly, on the decline ATM) ego-centric, greedy, snide, holier-than-thou.

There are a lot of us who refuse to think this way, so there is hope that a sense of social humility, if you will, catches on eventually.

That's not true we spend more on everything all those social engineering programs to education. But then again that is the benefit to so called 'allies' since they outsource their national security, and let someone else do all the heavy lifting.

The amount of money you spend isn't a indicator of how good your country is.

Wish someone would tell the 'social engineers' in this country who just think throwing billions of dollars at so called problems means that is going to fix them.

I don't know of any 'social engineers' who claim this to be the case.

I know a lot of social engineers who always say the US needs to be more like Europe, and Canada.

They seem to think that changing the environment to suit the individual instead of the individual adapting to changing times is the only way.

I think American leadership is God awful and the American people far too busy with who is winning the X Factor to notice they are being duped. Your country isn't awful, your apathetic way of getting things done is though

I would agree that American leadership is aweful, and after the billions blown on social engineering

Doesn't look like anything is going to change anytime soon.
